+Shoveled Object probably a matter of perspective and opinion on what is and isn't good. I like the way the main rythm is quite simple, but it's been turned into something quite complex.

Personally, I think it's the fact that ZUN put a lot more passion in his songs during the PC-98 Era of Touhou. He created those games for himself, just so he could see his dream come true. It all started from an idea he had while he was still in college and wanted to work on it right away, without any intentions of this game appealing to anyone else. Fast forward 20 years later, he sees all these people who absolutely adore the world he has created, including me. There's just something about this franchise in particular that stands out from almost every other video game out there. It's original, provides an insane amount of time dedication and patience to complete one game, the characters are all diverse and everyone at least has one favorite, and the songs are the most important aspect of a Touhou game as it brings out the flavor, mood, and sometimes the personality of each character. ZUN is an inspiration to me, he cares solely for his vision and how he wants to shape his world. And it all started from the good ol' classics such as Eternal Shrine Maiden, A tank girl's dream, Strawberry Crisis, Decoration Battle, and my personal favorite... Maple Wise. If you ever have the time, look back to some of his PC-98 work and see how much time and dedication he took to making his dreams reality.

Hard to tell not having music knowledge, but I think it's great because it's dark and omnious, with a persistent, pretty full percussive section and (for lack of a better word) an _epic_ lead.
