Strawberry Crumb Bars | Perfect summertime dessert!

I am definitely making this for an employee at the gym I attend. He works the graveyard shift at a produce company aside from his full time job at the gym. He brought me a whole flat of fresh strawberries today. He wouldn't let me pay for them. I will surprise him with a baked good on Monday. . I am a self taught baker so this would be a great thank you gift. You may be surprised to know that I love baking yet, I don't eat my baked goods. I am not a dessert person at all. I credit/blame my mom for that. My parents had 8 children then adopted an abused beautiful little 4 year old girl. Being poor doesn't allow for home baked goods. I love to bake. I give away all my baked goods. I bake twice a week. I will be making your crumb bars on Sunday to bless all the gym staff on Monday. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I made fresh jam yesterday and the squares last night. They c together beautifully and smelled divine. Today I took them to a work function and everyone raved and asked for the recipe. The shortbread like crust and crumble compliments the berries perfectly. I'll be making this again, soon!

My vegan version came out great. Crust was slightly weak since there was no eggs, I think. But I’m sending the rest out to a bunch of working overnight nurses; as I could eat the entire tray! Plus they would appreciate it of course. This could prob work with rhubarb too? Or both? So good! Oh and my mother liked these too, she looked at me with widen eyes and told me to print and save the recipe. Best 💚

I have a Sour Cherry Tree (Pie Cherry) in my yard. May I substitute the cherries for the strawberries? This was a great year for the cherries, the freezer is full and more are ready.
