So it's Colby trail to Strawberry peak to Strawberry meadows back to Colby? How clearly marked is the Strawberry peak trail? Should I arrive at the head of Colby in the morning if i want to make it down before night?

Sorry for the late reply, but it's not very clearly marked. I'd recommend using a good map or gps. The branch off the trail to go on the Mountaineering Route is actually pretty easy to miss. If you go on a weekend, you'll probably see other people doing it, though.

In general, dogs on leashes are welcome in the National Forest. But the mountaineering route is pretty challenging and a dog might have trouble. Thanks for watching!
