This recipe was in an old recipe book of my mom’s. She had never made it (and yes, it’s listed under salads). About 20 years ago, I made it for my in-laws when they came to visit from out of state. My father in law fell in LOVE with it! He would request it every time they came to visit. He died of cancer 6 years ago, and I haven’t been able to bring myself to make it since.😢

Thank u so much Nea, my Mom used to make this dessert (we ate it as a dessert) & she took it to heaven in her brain. Made me cry watching ur demo. Thanks as well for that secret "cream of tartar" bit too. I'm gonna see if I can cut it in half to do it for just me. Sending hugs & love from West Michigan 🙋♀️🏠🌻❤️❤️

I’m so grateful you don’t use Cool Whip, we don’t have it where I live, I also don’t like overly processed food so doubt I would care for it anyway! Love your recipes, I will give this one a go in a few months when the weather starts to warm up here 😊 Thank you for sharing! 💖

theres an old jello 'salad' recipe thats called "fluffy cranberry mousse" and it involves sour cream, cranberry sauce, raspberry jello, pecans, and i believe pineapple. it is a thanksgiving staple in my house and the first time people not from the south or midwest see it they are INCREDIBLY suspicious of it, and then its the first thing to end up completely devoured. every. single. time. (that and my from scratch whole berry cranberry sauce, but thats just a personal point of pride)

I hate using strawberry jello because of the red 40 food dyes and other additives, I make my own strawberry jello which takes a matter of a few minutes longer than regular jello and when the strawberries are in season the jello has a strong strawberry flavor! My SIL went crazy over how good it tasted!
@neaarentzen5 ай бұрын
Oh yum! I've never made homemade jello but that sounds so good! What's your process?
@samanthaludvigsen38635 ай бұрын
@@neaarentzenit sets faster than regular jello and it has more flavor. You can leave out the lemon if you want. I have done both with or without lemon

She has a rude attitude but she's around new Yorkers so it to be expected. But her rudeness in saying I don't know why it's called the salad because it's not really a salad. The factors is I'm assuming that it's not her actual recipe so who is she to criticize somebody else's recipe.. I'm sure she would not like it if someone criticize her recipe. I know there's a lot of these Food Network once they have here are very very rude and to make the excuse there a New York base kitchen is an excuse entirely. I'm sure there's New Yorkers the do not have that attitude, but I guess there are people in New York that want to feel they have the " being the ass state"
@QueenOfTheNorth655 ай бұрын
She’s not rude. I have a recipe book from the 1940’s where it is listed as a salad. It makes no sense. I, too, have no idea why it’s considered a salad.

Please explain to us how her saying she doesn't know why it's called salad is rude and a criticism. Your assumptions about New Yorkers is ruder than anything she said in the video.
