Better than the studio version. It never fails to tug on the heart strings. It really is a beautiful song.

found this song with such excitement, when i first was teaching myself guitar i came up with a little tune id play every. day. exact tune to this. when i found this song my heart just sunk. i always wanted to make a song with that tune, but it seems like one was already made for me.

Was listening to this version a ton starting on March 16th, 2020---the beginning of our quarantine, thanks for cleanly uploading it.

And six years later, Galaxie 500 would borrow the same chord progression (G and C, repeated for the length of the song) for their first single, “Tugboat”!

A lot of songs use a I-IV progression, so I wouldn’t really call it borrowing

talk about ahead of their time, they sound like a 90s indie band.

Dawn cracks the dark And it breaks the silence Of my waking hours And my heartbeat's licence For I hate the trees And I hate the flowers And I hate the buildings And the way they tower over me Can't you see? I get so frightened No one else seems frightened Only me, only me Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh I can't but see That the sun has risen To my window, my world Of my home sweet prison I hate the trees And I hate the flowers And I hate the buildings And the way they tower over me Can't you see? I get so frightened No-one else seems frightened Only me, only me Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba, ooh
