Cover me is one of my faves of his songs and he wrote Taste as a continuation of Red Lights and it's a danceracha song so all three make it extra sexy, Lee know killed his vocal parts. Hyunlix (hyunjin and felix) and Minsung (lee know and han) are the 2 biggest love ships in the group. There are many shops like hyunho (hyunjin and Lee know) chanlix (Bang Chan and felix) and hyunin (hyunjin and I.N) but some are more wholesome then romanticized. I live watching Changbin flirt with hyunjin at every opportunity it is hilarious.

There are 3 types of Bang Chan (imo). Bang Chan; Leader of SKZ, Channie; him being his usual, open, heartwarming, loving self and CHRISTOPHER!; Chan clearly being sexy, while pretending not to be sexy...that man sent his fans on a journey today talking about if he should cover his face or his body, and then opted to send 'beefy' pic and legit sent a picture of meat/food. He knows what he's doing. I can always tell what kind of mood he is in given the hashtag trending on twitter/x lol. Seriously though (if you're still here and not googling haha), this was the song that sort of sunk me into Hyunjin. I had heard MANIAC. I had watched his self-choreographed videos and his Studio Choom AOTM, but this was the song that made me realize he wasn't just a pretty face and guy who can dance, but he can sing, and he can emote!! There is a reason he is always wrecking me. (plus he legit is just a quiet, artistic goofball with small spurts of energy. What's not to love!).

Bang Chan and Hyunjin wrote Red Lights as a song about their constant, never ending obsession with work (their lives as idols, and all of the training, songwriting, performing, traveling, recording, etc.). It is meant to show how shackled they are by their responsibilities and efforts to be perfectionists about everything, even though they chose that life and they love what they do. But sometimes they want to escape it, too. BUT....... When they actually made the video......the visual concept was decidedly sexier than people were expecting. Especially from members of Stray Kids. So a lot of people have a misconception about the song and M/V because of the visual concept. And it doesn't help (it's funny, actually) that SKZ decided to take advantage of people's misconception for their stage performances. For those, the entire group is singing, and they have a pretty sexy concept there, too. So it started out as one thing......and then evolved into something else. LOL

The name of the song in Korean is Compulsion, and the two of them in the video represent the struggling opposing sides, the one that knows it should stop, and the other side that loves it and can't. Stray Kids did a series called Howl in Harmony where the members split into units, and each unit created a song (Gone Away, Surfin, and Red Lights). In the third episode, Bang Chan and Hyunjin discuss the concept for their song. People say the song is about work, but that's not completely true. Chan and Hyunjin used work as an example of the feeling they wanted to convey because both of them are obsessive when they are creating and don't stop, even though they know they'll be exhausted the next day. So, the song is about that kind of compulsive behaviour, which could be about many different things. Hyunjin definitely wanted it to be sexy, so I doubt he had work in mind when he was writing the lyrics. He has admitted the lyrics were a lot sexier originally and Chan toned them down. It's really interesting watching the members of 3Racha talk about the composing process with the inexperienced members, and episode four where they share their songs with the other units is hilarious. The other members' reaction to Red Lights is priceless which shows they did not interpret the song to be about work. LOL! Don't get the shippers started. Through the years there have been so many pairings I've lost count, and each group swears they are right and everybody else is blind. However, to be fair, the companies are responsible for a lot of it. They make new idols do blatant things that will contribute to people getting these ideas even though the industry as a whole has historically been very intolerant of any idol who has ever come out as gay. Very hypocritical.

Red Lights music video was how I found Stray Kids 😅 its still my favorite Skz song. The whole thing is an absolute masterpiece. I listen to it and watch the mv daily. This might be better than God's Menu (for me) 🙈 I'm a Chan/Chris bias so believe me when I say seeing his eyes roll back in the end like that opened up a whole new world for me 😳 Ah but what i fucking love the most about him is how crazy fucking talented he is!! Yep this one is up there for me too and no not because of the visuals lol No they're not talking about each other...they're pretty much meant to be one in the same person but the 2 sides to the person, the complusion/obsession and the part dealing with the obsession that has a grip on them. It's work for Chris (set the mic up) but they always say people can make their own interpretation and they enjoy hearing them. I might get jumped for saying this but I believe most of the members are like brothers to each other. Yes they constantly flirt and entertain stay, or have fun between themselves(at that age me and my friends used to do that too). But Chris has mentioned in his lives the word “brothers” several times(in English and in Korean). Kids themselves call each other brothers too. So that’s why I’m not fond of out of control overly $exualized shipping between them. harmless shipping is ok in Kpop and sometimes it’s fun but when people bring up those ships during kids’ lives, or make edits…I just think that people often forget that idols are real humans, and have feelings…when I first got into Skz, it was my first ever introduction to kpop and I fell into Hyunlix rabbit hole, believing every edit about those “meaningful” glances or touches, but then I watched more content, where they talk about each other and realized how effed up shipping culture is :( Btw, Hyunjin especially loves and dotes on younger members, and he’s said it himself that he wants to take care of them. He’s an only child and having younger brothers feels special to him.

There's still a ton of hype songs to recommend... (and of course Taste the unofficial sequel to Red Lights) ... but as a journey into SKZ's vulnerable side, I would like to put forth Cover Me. Lyrics were written by Hyunjin, and really, it showcases their amazing vocals. Honestly, it is one of my favorite songs. Also, there are a ton of Ships in Skz (my personal flagship is Hyunlix). I just ship for fun and don't get too serious about it, I also like Chanlix and what I like to call "Big cat/little cat" (Lee Know and Felix ... lino is soft for Felix, so cute) in case you couldn't tell my ult bias is Felix and my bias is Hyunjin (so I feel you every video when those two are on screen) and then I'm always getting wrecked by everyone else at different times for different reasons.

Tyty for this reaction! I LOVE this song, but the truly important things (to me) are the choices they made in making the mv. First of all, they brought in an openly gay director, and that's a BIG deal. Korea has not been open to LGBTQ lifestyles. People who "come out" in kpop basically end their careers. The head of the company stray kids is under is openly anti-gay. SKZ have always done what they could, however, to show support and solidarity with the Community. They could have easily used a man and woman in this mv, for example, but instead chose to go with two men and a whole lot of innuendo😂. I couldn't be prouder of them. That being said, i really don't think this is bang chan and hyunjin speaking to each other (sorry😂), rather that they are perfectly comfortable portraying this visual idea together. Don't get me wrong, there are some seemingly strong "ships" amongst members. The dynamic between lee know and han is iconic, and felix and hyunjin once received death threats when rumors of them dating got out of hand. Saddly, there are a ton of fans (and a majority of their culture) who simply can't handle the thought that some of them might be gay or bi, so don't expect any official declarations. The only other thing i would add is that this song/mv was part of a project called "Howl in Harmony," in which the members of 3racha (the main producers) each broke apart and paired with the others in order to work on the production process with them. Each group was tasked with creating a vastly different result. Bang chan paired w hyunjin to do something sexy/hard, changbin paired with felix and lee know to create a fun summer vibe (surfin), and han paired with I.N and seungmin to do a sad ballad/love song. The behind the scenes/making of all of this can be seen in their SKZ Code series. Can't wait for the next reaction ❤! OH, and hyunjin began writing "taste" as a continuation of red lights, so definitely check that out soon!!!
