honestly the acting was uncomfortably good. hyunjin looked like he was gonna die lmaooo no but honestly it was awesome though, it’s so cool to see groups do something totally different and do it so well

I feel like Hyunjin would pull off a psychotic character in a drama. He's so good at facial expressions

Totally agree that both their acting acting was perfect it fit the vibe of the song perfectly without feeling over the top. Stray kids has tons of variety content so after one kid's room there's definitely stuff to check out and I think you would vibe with their personalities overall.

Honestly what I love about this song and video is that on its surface it’s quite sexual, but both Chan and Hyunjin have a complicated relationship with sleep. When you said that Chan looked like a sleep paralysis demon, you were closer than you realized because Hyunjin does actually get sleep paralysis. Hyunjin is a very heavy sleeper, but on the flip side, Chan has insomnia and goes to sleep very very late (he had a vlive where he took a Buzzfeed quiz to see which SKZ member he was and he said he goes to sleep around 5am. Which, same.) So if you view this song and MV with these things in mind, it feels like it’s also a representation of nightmares and stress. Lines like, “When I close my eyes, all I see is red lights,” could be seen as representing sexual passion, but it could also be interpreted as being plagued by stress and nightmares upon trying to fall asleep.

I agree with you. I was expecting it to be really fan-servicey but it turned out to be as you said eerie and alluring. The lyrics and the sound can also definitely be taken as really sexy which it is but it's also portrays this sort of "obsessive passion" they show through the lyrics, their choreography, expression and just their overall performance. They tell a story of how that obsession and passion drives them mad and how the line between their passion and themselves becomes blurred. If that makes any sense 😂. The song is definitely sexy no doubt, which I am all here for. But it also has a darker tone and meaning.

Def an eerie MV with incredible acting. They always blow me away! As for their content, I’ve already recommended 2 Kids Song for a look into their song wtiting. They actually have SKZ Camp Song: Howl In Harmony now which is a mini variety on how each unit wrote their songs for this album and that was really good and very wholesome!

I think the “you” in the song was referring to something rather than to someone. I remember them saying that they were talking about compulsion. It’s kinda like talking about a toxic obsession with something. In their case it might be work. We all know both of them are workaholic as they’ve said it before. So they might talk about how passionate they are about what they do but that compulsion might sometimes be bad for them, it could hurt them, but they just can’t let it go. That’s why they are all chained up, try to escape the chains and ropes but eventually keep pulled back to each other. I find it really artistic that they tried to convey this massage using a “sexy/bdsm concept” with letting everybody think sexy meaning of the lyrics. It’s very impressive that there are so many details that could be overseen but stray kids always produces songs that could be interpreted in everybody’s own way. That’s what I really like about them. Tell me if my interpretation makes sense? Ps: I am pretty sure they wanted to try out a more mature concept with more explicit lyrics and they definitely meant the song to be sexy, I do for sure think that’s what they were talking about but if you were to be diving deeper to find maybe the camouflaged meaning you might see what I have said in the beginning.

I've seen comments talking about how Chan and Lee Know's Drive use "driving" as a metaphor for sex and Chan and Hyunjin's Red Lights use sex as a metaphor for obsession and being a perfectionist / slave to their work and I think that's so fucking brilliant. I love that Skz are experimenting with a more mature concept now. Also, will you notice how Chan is the common factor? the core strength hyunjin has to hold that pose while dancing is so insane!! I knew he is super strong and always works hard on his dance, even chan said he is second strongest in skz (only after chan himself he said lmao), but stunts and stuff like that really remind me of that and i'm amazed everytime please the upper back is the only supported part, i'd be shivering trying to dance that and he makes it look like it's nothing to him. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART. KISSES FROM BRAZIL. 😍😍💋💋💋👏👏👏👏👏.

Hmm, seeing the video alone I would have thought that it is about someone's light and dark side going off or someone with multiple personalities. Reading the lyrics though made me think it was about a toxic romantic relationship. Conclusion: I have no clue but it is a bop & their acting was so good in this.

In a way its kinda like a toxic relationship with yourself. Their PG interpretation is that its about like a compulsive obsession with work, where they know they should go to sleep or take a rest but they can't leave work alone. At the same time, I think they are fully aware of the more toxic romantic relationship vibe of the sound and lyrics and used that as a medium for the PG interpretation. For me I can absolutely see both so its not a thing where I'm saying they lied about the meaning, because it very much is about compulsive obsession, but they portrayed it in a way that lets the viewer/listener decide if they see it as a work or romantic relationship obsession.
