This performance was how SKZ announced that they were participating in Kingdom. That is why Hyunjin grabbed the crown at the end. They announced their intention to win with Victory Song!

MAMA doesn't really like to award the Stray Kids, but was happy to capitalise on their popularity. That's probably why SKZ haven't performed there for the last 2 years.

They had so little time to prepare this performance because they were told about it last minute. They created a VERY different arrangement, learned new choreography, using the swords and spears, new lyrics in some places, and working with a huge cast of backup dancers in a really short time span. (I think that's why some of the shield work from the dancers was a bit messy at times, but no blame to them.) Remember that this was the year of both God's Menu and Back Door, but they performed neither. Instead, they went back FOUR albums and nearly two years prior to create this epic version of Victory Song. My favourite section that was added to the song is Changbin's powerful "Don't you know who we are!? Don't you know who we are! You cannot defeat us, this is our Kingdom! You can't kill us. Bring it on!" These MAMAs were used to announce some of the groups that would be on Kingdom: Legendary War. There is a section where Hyunjin from Stray Kids, Juyeon from The Boyz, and San from Ateez did a triangular fight dance performance together, which is also very cool.

I love how Stray Kids eventually turned down performing at the MAMA's and went to film their own reality dating show instead. 😂

From what I understand, they had some "anger" within cause they were only told a few days or weeks before per my understanding that they would perform whiles they were not nominated. So it was like, they were an "afterthought" which made them determined to "kill" this performance.

Yeah, it was a bit of an FU to MAMA. That's why they chose an older B side song instead of a song from their current album at the time.

Everything everyone said above about the performance. Just wanted to add that after their performance Chan went live and supposedly had more viewers than the show. I believe this is also when he was listening to Han's song "I Got It" which was also kinda pointed towards the MAMAs

The original song is very different, much more EDM. This remix has a completely different instrumental and feel. I love both versions.♥ With this performance they reallsy said "we are here and we deserve to be on Kingdom" and delivered the best performance of the night even though they weren't nominated for any awards, which was such nonsense because that was the year they released God's Menu and Backdoor.

The MAMA version of this song is a lot different than the original so you might want to check out the official performance video as well. This was a special stage just for the MAMA awards. I’m not sure if they perform it during the ongoing dominATE tour but they did perform it at the I-Days festival last summer and it was amazing! I would know, I was there 😃

Thank you. MNET is who created Kingdom and also who sponsors the MAMA awards. Even though SKZ didn't win an award, MNET had 3 of the groups in Kingdom to do a performance in kingdom style. Ateez had already been announced as a group and so was the Boyz. But for stray kids this was how MNET announced that Stray Kids would participate in the series. MNET waited till the last minute for stray kids and they only had a few weeks to prepare for the MAMA performance. Kingdom Legendary War is the 2nd season of Kingdom. The first season was Road to Kingdom where The Boyz, Oneus, Pentagon, VeriVery, ONF, Golden Chile, Cavity and TO1. There is also a triangle dance preformed on MAMA with Ateez/San, The boyz/Juyeon, and SKZ/Hyunjin. In the Kingdom Legendary War, we were missing Ateez Mingi and after the intro performance SKZ was missing Hyunjin. So glad you are watching it on patron.

I also want to mention that this song was remixed for the Kingdom performance, and different from the performance m/v which you have to watch. LOL It is the one song that got me into Stray Kids in 2019. I have been a fan every since.
