Stream Deck Update Deleted Everything - Yes Even The Backup

Just happened to me, over 3 years of setting up gone and over wrote the back up, very disappointing

The fact this is still an issue in September 2023.....I'm never buying an El Gato device again. This is selling jenky for premium prices....Why are we paying for crap hardware we can easily replace? Their software is what we bought an now that's not even usuable. I've reprogrammed 5 times before I found this video, never buying anything from them again....FML

Yep just happened to me. Ridiculous. Even 8 months after this video was posted, Elgato have still not addressed the issues that people have raised.

If I recall when it happened to me, even if I loaded my backup setup, it didn't all come back right. The buttons appeared, but all the icons had big yellow "!" on them.

i changed a setting on windows that shuts down my computer completely. according to windows settings your computer, by default, only hibernates even one clicks Shut Down. Once I ensured my pc would fully shut down, elgato stream deck forgot ALL of my layouts. and even asked me to sign back in via google chrome. wave xlr did the same thing. terrible

Ive been putting the updates to the side for a long time now.. just updated and lost my profiles. very dissapointed.

i updated mine and over 70 pages are gone , might just sell the stream deck

This happened to me last year and I had to restore an image of my entire Windows drive to get back to a working Streamdeck. As a result, I IGNORE updates from now on.

i fixed it. apparently the updated stream deck software changed the default location of the backups. i checked here and found them. C:\Users\******\AppData\Roaming\Elgato\StreamDeck\Backup

i created a manual backup in a new folder just incase from now on.
