that last insight regarding the loop knot is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the great video!

Hi Was just viewing your video on weighted flies when I notices a set of eyes on one of your flies at the 8 minute 40 second part of the video. I believe the eyes on this fly to be made by Bestco Eyes, a company that existed some years back and owned by Stu Dickens who passed away a number of years ago. I have many of the eyes designed and made by Stu over the years. He also built jiggy heads as well as tiny crab bodies in various size that were probably zinc. Stu made the eyes you have in yellow, white and red, as well as in black, silver and gold. You are the first person I have seen to use Stu's eyes in a video on KZbin. Enjoyed your video on properly weighting flies. Ron C Ruskin, FL

I bought a long time ago, perhaps close to 20 years ago and I've been gradually using them up. Thanks for the info as I had long forgotten who supplied them.

I have been (trying out) putting a " line of " led wire to make my conehead wooly buggers. Still not tried them but I am hopeful.

Do you have any experience with weight balancing for castability ala Mark Sedotti? I'm interested in streamers on lighter rods and would be interested to see how far one can push it. Might be a fun follow up video for this

I already have a video on casting heavily weighted flies. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHOrqn2ietClaM0

I thought you said that dry flies are the hard ones for beginners :p There sure is a lot to learn about all this stuff. Not like bass fishing though where you can just slap some hooks on a block of wood or a go pro and catch em.

Lol did you see the video of a bait maker who literally slapped treble hooks on a block of wood and caught bass? Damn fish will hit almost anything at least once.

@@rushthezeppelin Yeah that's the video I was referring to in my comment. Marling Baits is the guy. He's great!

You didn't discuss the effect of using an up eye hook.
@hooked4lifeca4 жыл бұрын
I briefly talk about up eye hooks but don't provide an example. Adding weight to up eye hooks is less common than for the other two varieties, so I didn't get into the specifics. The same principles apply to any style of hook. Be aware of the centre of gravity in the hook after the weight has been added and the point through which the force of the pull of the leader will be directed. For example, a clouser stye fly on an up eye hook would probably not be a great performer.
