Ilia was not getting frustrated at all. He was stalking Volk and making him circle to the left (Ilia's right) by cutting the angle. He was willing to take shots to get close and corner Volk. Once he got him cornered, he unleashed his combination and crumbled him. It was pretty scary. Ilia has the calmness of a Matador but the aggression of a bull. Dude is SCARY.

Everyone slept on Topuria. After i saw him knockout Gordon Hall i knew he had bombs in his hands. I knew he was going to win. Also ALWAYS hated Volk just sayin

Who can hate Volk? He's such a likable dude. He's not fake for the cameras. He is who he is, he doesn't feel the need for constant trash talk, even in defeat he is so graceful and kind and has even been seen hanging out with Islam after losing to him twice. He befriends his past opponents. Even non fans of him say he's so humble and respectful and you just can't not like the guy. For someone to hate him when he's such a good guy means there's something seriously wrong with them. The only reason I can see for people to hate Volk (a non logical reason btw) are salty Max fans who just can't get over the fact he lost to Volk 3 times. Other than that, nothing makes sense on why anyone would hate him. He's not cringy like so many other fighters in the UFC.

Theres not many of those dogs left who are straight up scrappers who got that dog in them. it's all too well rounded and turns fighting into more of a competition than an old school test of manhood. And youre right i grew up with Max and always liked him because hes got that dog in him. Moments where hes turned the fight into a monumental "scrap". Thats something Volk never did. Volk never went outside his comfort zone, always just outcompeting his opponent.

@@fengxiong3687 You're entitled to your opinion but I respectfully disagree. I've seen plenty of Volk fights where he "scraps" as you say and has that dog in him. Seen plenty of good kos/tkos after a scrap, and times he's gone out of his comfort zone too. He doesn't just play it safe like you say and fight for points. It may seem this way for some cause Volk needs ramp up time in a fight (like a warm up) to fully display his skills. It's also to feel the opponent out and to see their reactions. He doesn't just go guns blazing with pure aggression cause that's dumb and can get you caught and backfire bad. It's just being smart. It doesn't make you less of a fighter to take some time to put it on someone and increase the volume once you've analysed how they react to what you do. Sometimes fighters get quite a few decisions on their resume and not finishes because both fighters are of an elite level both with that dog in em, both with strengths each fighter has to be mindful of not to get caught with and then a finish just doesn't come as an opportunity for either fighter as both are tough as fuck. Also if you were a fighter hypothetically, let's say you knew your opponent had crazy power punches with a scary ability to ko. Your style though was a bit slower to get flowing, but then in a round or two, workhorse heavy volume with the possibility to ko/tko by pressure or wrestling but not by one shots, then on paper it's clear you have to be wary of that one shot power of the opponent , so obviously you'd use other things in your arsenal to mix it up, to negate the opponents power. Be honest you're not gonna just be like hey , "let's just scrap" cause you're likely to lose and that'd be stupid. You're gonna do everything you can to negate their strengths while displaying your own strengths and vice versa. Being a well rounded fighter is being a complete fighter. The way you describe fighters with that "dog in em", are fighters that are 1 dimensional strikers with pure aggression, high risk takers without worrying about consequences and it's just flat out not a smart move at all to be like that as a fighter anymore with the talent and well rounded fighters we have today. Gone are the days of being 1 dimensional. To make it in fighting now you have to be well rounded or you'll get exposed quickly by just being a scrapper with large swings. I mean no offense of course you're allowed to have your opinion but yeah I respectfully disagree. I get from an entertainment point of view the scraps are great, but can also understand it from the fighters view and it doesn't take anything away from them if they have to fight technically (it actually shows more skill that way) rather than pure dog aggression hoping something connects.
