So, how's the whole "fat over lean" thing work when you paint over another oil painting?

If the otger oil painting is already dry, just put a layer of oil (oftentimes mixed with some varnish), thinly applied with some sort of rag as a stick to layer and continue to paint "fatter" then you would on an empty canvas , since you are painting over thin layer of oil.
