Dave has the best financial commentary on the internet. Bravo Zulu. I am 73, and not religious. But I volunteer at a local hospital. I see so many sad cases and stories. I always try to help, but I can only do what I can . At the end of every shift I am so thankful for my health and strength. Never take it for granted.

Wonderful anecdote about your daughter and the incident on the playground. A perfect illustration of your point about the importance of not holding grudges and offering forgiveness. Very few retirement planners offer this kind of wholistic advice. Bravo, Dave!

There is no shortage of smart investment advisors. And specific to Retirement, the number of smart Retirement Planners who focus on more than simply investing might be far fewer… but you can still find plenty of them on KZbin. However, far fewer Retirement Planners deal with the “softer” issues that make retirement more fulfilling. Thank you Dave, for doing this. And for stepping out to acknowledge we can be happier when we believe in something bigger than ourselves, whatever that spiritual thing looks like to us.

I’m Christian and I believe is faithfully living my faith in my daily life. I am so glad that you did not only mention Bible but also said or your holy text which I assume includes our brothers and sisters who are not Christians. One reason younger generation is turning away from religion is the fact that they see us Christians or other organized religion not practice what they preach. I’m glad I came across your channel. New sub here.

Thanks for including including hugely important element of the spiritual/faith during retirement! Aging in an uncertain world can cause anxiety and the best way to minimize that is to remember to Whom you belong.

I retired last year, the day I turned 60, and we were a single income household for the last 30+ years. My brother retried when he turned 55, single with no kids, so he was able to quote his COJ a little earlier than me. It can be done, just live within your means. We both won the game.

I think it's also important to set the order of importance. 1. Spiritual wealth (if you believe in a higher power) 2. Physical wealth 3. Relationship wealth 4. Financial wealth

Very sweet story about your 8-year old and the conversation you two had about dealing w/a bully by praying for the bully. Instilling our morals and values into our children is our obligation as parents , this was a great life lesson for her❤

A great video overall. I'm glad I watched it. The next part of this review is my own personal feeling about some of the other things you stated that many people may not agree with. I am very grateful that you have the courage to talk about God and Faith in your video. I wish more people would do that. There is a decline of faith in the world and especially in America. To me wealth without faith in a higher source is just being greedy to see how much you can get for yourself. One of the reasons I feel we are here on earth as stewards is to see what we will do with the 'talents' that have been given to us. As I see it, God created this earth and everything on it. He has granted me some ability to do some work that I am rewarded for. Therefore, everything I have or can do comes from Him. I am just a steward. He grants me every beat of my heart. He grants me every breath that I take. If I would serve him all the days of my life, I would still be considered an unprofitable servant (Luke 17:10, Mosiah 2:21 [BofM]). Thank you for your time and value you do in generating these videos.

According to statistics, we are "wealthy". Every point you made in the financial segment was spot on. Relationships can be tricky, but you are correct that we need to reach out and cultivate relationships. That doesn't mean you should spend a lot of time on people who really don't want a relationship. Know when to move on. Ultimately, a person who wants to spend time with you will make the time. Mental health is so often overlooked. By that I mean that we should always strive to learn new things. I'm relearning Spanish and am working on rebuilding a tractor. I'm 61, am not mechanically inclined, and have not used Spanish since college. We travel a lot, and we hike as much as we can when we travel. I played baseball and football in college, but I really have no interest in playing a competitive sport. Lots of people want me to join the "old folks" softball leagues, but it really doesn't interest me. Lifting 50# bags is something I do every day. I think they weigh 75# now😂 We are Christians, and virtually all of our giving is through our church because we feel that mission is helping our local community more than any of the national charities. My wife is a crazy cat lady, so she volunteers and donates to animal rescue organizations. Excellent content here!

This was thoughtful and well done. Really appreciate the idea of categories of wealth that go beyond just money. My wife and I had a great conversation after listening to this. We are learning that part of the challenge of retirement is a change in mindset as we go from accumulating to planning & spending. So for us , we really resonate on the notion of thankfulness as a key habit that keeps us grounded.
