I can't believe this. I came to the States and decide to learn how to drive a manual. And here I am learning how to drive with the view of Taiwan. Deja vu

I took a 3-day course on driving stick because it was cheaper than learning automatic. Haven't touched a stick shift since because both my parents' cars are automatic. And this video had taught me more about driving stick than the entirety of that course.

Is it necessary to slowly release the clutch whenever you're shifting gears? Whether it is from 1st to 2nd to 3rd or going from 4th to 3rd to 2nd?
@alexthreepedals5891 Жыл бұрын
Release to bite point then full release when shifting. I release extra carefully cus I have a passenger haha.
@miguelmsilva4112 Жыл бұрын
If the revs are correct you can pretty much dump it and it will be smooth, but if they are slightly off it's better to pause at the biting point for like 0.5 seconds.
@coolbeans6307 Жыл бұрын
when starting out yes, always hold the clutch at the bite point until the clutch finishes rev matching for you. as you get better you will figure out when the revs are matched during downshifts and how much to blip the throttle on downshifts. neither of those are particularly necessary during normal street driving, though.

So basically.. The clutch comes first? Even when breaking etc. Also i think i understand the basics. But say you come to almost a complete stop. You go into neutral right? And then kinda ride it out and then go into first or second?
@Freescrub Жыл бұрын
First should only be used when taking off from a complete stop like a stop sign or at a light

@@Freescrub okay say im cruising like 75 mph etc i slow down a little go into neutral now im going 40 mph what gear i go in
@ultimateearrapechannel31 Жыл бұрын
@@nobreaks3305 think you have to get a feeling for that. That's what they mean with rev matching. Just try it out and you will find out and once you got it you automatically go to the right gear whenever you're slowing down
@isrv10 ай бұрын
@@nobreaks3305 at that speed do not put it into neutral, it’s like your just flying with no control at that point, press the breaks until you’re back at a normal speed pay attention to rpm’s then shift down to whatever gear seems ok rpm wise (because if you’re still going fast and shift to 2nd you will blow the engine sky high or the rpms will fly all the way up not a good feeling) 3rd gear or 2nd are your friends when you’re slowing down, when you’re in 2nd gear and you’re about to stop just put it in neutral because at that point the rpms for second gear are gonna be supper low and the car willl begin to rattle meaning it’s gonna stall out ,put it in neutral come to a complete stop, then after you can start in 1st gear agin 1st gear is to move around tight small spaces or a jump off point ,you can also at 70mph press the breaks all the way until you come close to a complete stop ,and then put it into neutral, doesn’t matter you can be in 5th gear press the breaks all the way until you’re close to a stop and hop all the way to second then neutral, downsshifting through the gears 5432 just helps the car slow down in a controlled manner on its own instead of just relying on the breaks to do the job for you ,it’s recommend honestly, it’s all about timing and rev matching,remember it’s not an automatic you gotta be 1 with the car hope it helps

I have a question? Is it okay to press brake without the clutch? I meant that can you slightly press the brake without pressing the clutch?
@Pluto-ud5ss Жыл бұрын
you only need to use the clutch when braking when your car is in gear and your coming to a complete stop. if you put the car in neutral you can press the brake until you come to a stop without stalling.

The bite point could be damn near at the top, so basically half the pedal travel does nothing. You can go as fast as you want up to that, even when stopped. When moving you can release quicker
