The PlayStation Portable version, titled Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX , Street Fighter Zero 3 Double Upper in Japan, officially promoted as Street Fighter Zero 3↑↑, was released in 2006 and features the additional characters from the GBA version as well as Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution. The game is a near faithful port of the arcade version with minimal loading times and all graphics intact. All the added characters now feature their own in-game storylines and endings. In addition, all character colors are now tied to input rather than ISM and attack type, thus giving additional colors to both Chun-Li and Sodom's A/V-ISMs and X-ISMs.

It's my favorite version of this game. I still carry my old UDM disk-playing PSP with SFA3 with me on trips (ie. when flying, etc.).

Its definitly the best version. Its arcade accurate , has much more content and plays great on a psp.

The PSP version actually only adds one character who hadn't been in previous versions of Alpha 3. The console versions for Saturn, PS1 and Dreamcast added T. Hawk, Guile, Dee Jay, Fei Long, Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu (all of whom get their own new awesome stages except Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu who's stages are just variants of already existing stages). The GBA version added Eagle, Maki and Yun but they don't have their own stages. And The PSP version added Ingrid who also doesn't have her own background.

Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2.

SFA Anthology on PS2 is nice but MAX with the 4 extra characters and crazy amount of extra modes not even in the previous console versions came out afterwards. It not only has the bug fixes and balance changes that the Upper arcade revision made such as fixing the crouch cancel bug which allowed for infinite juggles which for characters like Cody and Sagat isn't too tough to make happen, it also nerfed v-ism from being ridiculously unbalanced by both fixing the crouch cancel bug and reducing the number of i-frames v-ism gets upon activation. It also changed other things such as having opponents' fall speed increase every time they come back down from a juggle, removed being able to whiff throws from building meter, plus a mix of character buffs and nerfs.

Eagle is a fun character in the PSP version. Him and Maki have fun tricks. I can only wonder now that Street Fighter 6 exists if they would bring them back as the game gets new characters over the years to come.

These chars have naturally less luck because they are rare since the early times of SF. I mean he literally never reappeared again... So he has less chances to appear because he is less known. But well, his return is not impossible anyways.

Eagle is honestly as obscure as a character can be who's been playable in a main Street Fighter game lol (and he's been in 2 of them, 3 if you count CvS2!). I mean if you ask most Street Fighter fans if they know who Eagle is, I bet 3 out of 4 will be like "Who's that?". But yeah it'd be cool if he came back along with Maki (Maki especially). The problem though is that Capcom has such a massive lineup of characters from their rich history to pick and choose from that a ton of great characters are going to be left out when adding characters to SF6. I mean we're talking like 70 characters who they could add, Capcom has such an insane catalogue of Street Fighter/Final Fight characters.

Capcom should've put Eagle, Ingrid and Maki in the PS2 and XBOX ports of 3rd Strike instead; because alongside Yun, it made no sense putting them in the prequel roster of Alpha 3, it doesn’t match with the chronology at all.

Eagle is from the original SF1, and Final Fight 2's story takes place before Cody becomes a convict on the run. Yun debuted in SF3 so yeah he'd be like 10 years old in Alpha 3 lol and Ingrid doesn't belong at all in the SF universe@@KenMasters.

@@drlight6677 True, the way Eagle looked in Alpha's official artwork and manga is the same as how he appeared in SF1, his appearance fully matured in CvS2 though, same with Maki who also looked younger in Final Fight 2. But imagine them in 3rd Strike: Maki would be rivals with Ibuki, Eagle would be rivals with Dudley, and Ingrid would play a huge role against Urien and Gill.

Fightcade currently doesn't support PSP games so sadly no =( Capcom REALLY needs to bring SFA3 MAX to modern platforms, it's hands down the definitive game in the series.
