2am Sunday Night, 27degrees and Jason Miller and the MIR staff where still able to provide a racing surface capable of setting a World Record pass for Unibody FWD Street car (no wheelie bars). Earlier in the day they ran 7.96 in qualifying, but when the money was on the line in the JPC Street Fighter Finals, James Kempf in his Competition Clutch Civic and the Speed Factory team, poured in the coals and let it eat going 7.91 @ 196mph to take the win over a sleeper of a car a 2v Ford Fairmount of WIlliam Bryant who go the hole shot but just didn't have enough running 8.10 @ 169mph. Also enjoy the GoPro angle looking back at and just enjoy the feel of acceleration

Erick Gabriel I talked to a haltech dealer about this, he said that because most of haltech's customer base is rotary/import, they tend to make rules suiting them rather than bringing in the domestic cars.

I know the Fairmont saw that bullet reeling him up. Almost 30mph on the big end, despite the car lengths in the beginning. That Civic made many V 8 guys a believer that night.

This was an awesome run for both.Speed Factory had their car spot on. Even though we had lots of rain and oil/fluids on the track there were many records set.Both cars/teams should be very proud of their numbers.

It's a monster civic! I've seen it run personally at Pacific Raceways. Ran an 8.3 for me though, still a beast! They're not even that big of a shop.. I love Hondas, love my V8's too! I'll Give credit where credit is do. Been beat by a 450whp Honda in my 470whp c5 Z06. Still had fun though. My Vette is like Camzilla around central Texas. :)

Pro stock cars have been running 6 second 1/4 mile's with Naturally Aspirated V8's since 1994 back when Bill Clinton was President. lol Pro Mod Twin turbo V8's are running 260+mph in the 1/4 mile. Still there is no replacement for displacement. It's 2015. Has any naturally aspirated 4 or 6 cylinders run in the 7's yet?

Finn S Lets stay on the subject. Were not talking about our everyday point A to point B cars. This is a DRAG RACING VIDEO. We are talking about full on purpose built drag cars with well over a thousand horsepower and you're bringing up car manufacturing. Yawn... All I listed was what naturally aspirated(Pro stock) and turbo charged(Pro Mod) V8 car's run in the 1/4 mile. I'll answer my question for you. It's No. No 4 or 6 cylinder naturally aspirated car has run in the 6's or 7's which clearly shows displacement does matter.

AdussFadass What about rotary engines doing low 6 second passes on full chassis and high 6 secs on stock chassis...on an engine that's probably 1/5th of many big blocks....also what about crotch rockets? I totally understand and agree with your point at this moment the v8 has been and still continues to be the king of drag racing until real tuners and people that is willing to invest a ridiculous amount of money on a smaller engine like a rotary or any 4 or 6 cyl and it can be proven that the only replacement for displacement on some cases is power/weight ratio.

Fernan Santiago Their are a lot of fast imports out there. I like imports too! But yea V8's still and will always dominate in the drag racing world when there are no restrictions. Imports are getting faster as well as domestics. I'm sure you heard of team E.Kanoo from UAE right? The Owner has copious amounts of money. Their 10.5 Outlaw Supra (2jz Motor) has run a 6.14 @ 232mph two large turbos on ridiculous amounts of boost. Little do people know team E.Kanoo also have a Promod Camaro with a HUGE big block V8 that runs a 5.82 @ 243.7 MPH on Nitrous only. No turbos, no supercharger. Which is also a pure indication that DISPLACEMENT DOES MATTER. I find it easy to prove people wrong after they make ignorant statement's like Finn S "they still believe no replacement for displacement, smh, this isn't the 70s."

To make this kind of power, in this small of a displacement, with this type of fuel, ie- over 1000 horse, under 2.5l or 153 cubic inches, not running nitro methane, but running some type of gasoline. ... Pretty awesome. Running E.T.s of 8 sec or under. Priceless. How many rwd cars run this fast with so few cylinders and such a small displacement motor? And no nitro methane? In person, these b series monsters with anti lag sound completely demonic. like fully automatic machine gun shotguns. Insane.

Why does everybody assume it takes 500k to make a honda run this time? First off, domestic car parts cost way more than import parts, especially honda parts. The ford may have dropped the same amount of money into his car as the honda did. It is not easy or is it cheap to make domestic cars like GM and ford to run 7,8,9 second e.t.'s. Parts will break and upgrades will be needed.

196mph trap speed means its making over 1400whp, not bad for a 2 liter. its trapping 28mph higher than the Ford, that is HUGE considering the ford is no slouch, on the highway the race wouldnt even be close. but u need to give credit where its due. the civic is manually shifted, the Ford has an automatic. btw 2psi would not make 28mph and 2/10ths
