Street Fighter II: Rainbow Edition is the Greatest Fighting Game of All Time

Street Fighter has always had busted, broken characters and situations. ST Akuma, ST O.Sagat, ST Chun-Li..... I see a pattern here!
For this video, I wanted to focus on Rainbow Edition, and infamous rom hack of SF2 that makes the game look like it was created by the Marvel vs Capcom developers!

i remember it being in arcades around 92. I was facinated with it. Especially when you could change characters by pressing the start button. They used to call it Street Fighter 2.5 and crazy stuff like that and at the age i was I didn't know the difference from official releases and hacks.

I was alive for it... SF2 champion edition was even starting to fall a bit flat with Mortal Kombats release. But when Rainbow edition hit , I never seen the quarters flying in....as broken as it is, people adjusted and were surprisingly competitive. There is a few versions. The ones that have waves of fireballs are trash. But the first version is a single homing slow fire ball then fierce lightning fast one. And no charging for charge characters with a speed boost was actually fantastic and I personally now own one of these legendary machines and display it proudly in my living room 😂

Nice history. Ive just picked up a load of PCBs and have a feeling i have some SF2 boots in there, I kind of hope to have a rainbow just for fun as remember it being in my local chipshop growing up and it being the fastest I've ever lost my pocket money. 😂

I've wondered which version this was that let you throw fireballs in mid air that could arc downwards for almost 30 years. Back then, you couldn't Google stuff, but I saw this in a grocery store and had a similar WTF reaction it.

Each version is a little bit different. I own a rainbow addition that lets you arc fireballs up or down, but in my version guile cant have 5 sonic booms on the screen like this video had. No more than 2 projectiles can be on screen per character at a time.

Rainbow is probably one of the more boring boots tbh. You didn’t show it and not a lot of people know it, but you can also teleport by pressing and releasing HP+HK

@@khanage1344 a very dirty trick is to fill the screen with jab projectiles and change char to gief, teleport and spd. He can also do mid air lariats and then grab people for spd’s whilst above them in the air. Blanka has some skanky tactics with constant ball attacks going off screen and infinite blockstun

It's important to monitor your audio levels and mixing, my friend. I noticed that the Japanese commentary preview was twice as loud as your voice so hurts the ears when wearing headphones, other than that, I really enjoyed the video keep it up!

Thanks! The audio levels being weird comes from my editing software. When I'm listening to the video via the project file in DaVinci Resolve with an audio equalizer, everything is fine. However, when I export the video as an MP4 file, it gets really weird and I'm unsure how to fix it

Please the AMERICAN NYC version was WAY WAY CRAZIER! #1 the game did shit you couldnt do #2 the teleports of characters and how raidly they could sometimes do that was amazing! #3 How they threw projectiles with just normal punches and kicks that instantly dazed you. I love a challenging game and the M7 version of this hack was the best. Ps i called it CHEESEFIGHTER. You better spam a combo and stay alive!
