Van Damme wasn't know for much before getting into films in the US. He competed in martial arts in his native Belgium back in the late 70s and early 80s. He moved to the States, did some bit roles for a while, and then landed the main role in 'Bloodsport'. After that, the rest is history.

As far as I know, the Van Damme predator story was that he was offered to do Blood Sport, but was already signed for the Predator role and could not get out of the contract, so he pretended the costume was to heavy for him which made them fire him, then he went on to do Blood Sport.

I saw on a vhi behind the series where they talked about Vandamn leaving Predator. He got the offer to do Bloodsport but was contracted for Predator so whenever they said action he faked heat stroke and just fall over in the suit till they fired him.

I know "SF" fans are offended by the movie and nobody likes to see their artstyle changed...But this game looks legitimately solid. I've seen Dood playing the main "SF" games and this one honestly doesn't look any different to me besides "cartoon vs real people." For a game that's universally panned by fans and critics alike, I'm impressed that this game looks like something you can actually play and doesn't just evaporate when you touch it. Plus, I'm having fun seeing how these live actors recreate the poses from their predecessors. This game may not be fondly remembered, bu perhaps it served a purpose. If this game never floundered, maybe studios would have been tempted to make a "Legend of Chun Li" game. I know most fans aren't big on the Van Damme movie, but I think we can ALL agree who the real villain of the franchise is.

*Did You Know?™:* Blanka was _supposed_ to be in this version, but Incredible Technologies ran out of time to fully digitize his sprites. He even has an ending that the player normally can't see. Beating the game as Super Bison (through cheat codes) gives that ending. Fei Long was supposed to be in this game, as well, but he couldn't be finished for similar reasons. Not sure why he never made it into the home version, though… Scheduling conflicts with the actor, I guess? _Also,_ there are a lot of push-button codes that give different battle effects, not unlike _Mortal Kombat 3._ On top of that, there's push-button codes to select different stages, _and_ have music from _Super X_ play which someone actually _did_ during the Cammy fight (13:22). Finally, a poke around bookkeeping mode reveals some weird counters, a'la the misdirecting counters in _Mortal Kombat_ games. Stuff like "Blanka Found/Fought," and so on. (I non-ironically love this game, if it wasn't obvious. (; )

There was a thread on SRK where one of the guys who developed this game spoke about the process and the "politics" involved. It was an excellent read, really. These guys had really good intentions but were dealt a bad hand. I think they could have made a fairly cool game if they weren't bogged down by a movie license. I recall him talking about intentions to make Sheng Long a character who, for his blocking animation, would actually evade attacks. I honestly like this game for what it is, or at least I like it's most refined versions. It's a very peculiar specimen.
