they only did it because of EVO. The EVO have a problem with that and in the worst case would not have allowed SF5 at their event. Since SF5 is kept alive at all by the EVO and the like because otherwise no one would buy their game since fighting games are no longer in demand and hip. In addition, SF5 is generally difficult for beginners. In addition, the game is a gigantic scam and you were sold an unfinished game and you have to spend another 100 and more for 5 season passes so that you have halfway enough fighters, as it should be in a fighting game. Did they prefer censoring and adapting to the EVO guidelines so that at least the small hardcore mean can play SF5 there again and again and thus the game remains known. This is also the reason why SF6 is so beginner-friendly as no SF before it. They want and need to pick up the casual gamer. Hence a crappy story mode with even worse character editor and simplified controls.

There is even a big censorship in the story mode, when F.A.N.G kills a scientist, in the preview version you can see him completely melting the scientist, while in the final/current version that particular scene is censored by a black screen. Family-friendly my ass! That's a bullshit excuse to say similar to those in films. When The King's Speech was released in select theaters, it was rated R. However, The Weinstein Comapny decided to release the film as a PG-13 rating to appeal a wider young audience who are troubled by stuttering so they slightly censored or edit scenes (including the swearing scene) and titled as "The family event of the year". Just like that, when I think of family-friendly games, it's usually E or E10, but Street Fighter V is rated T so that is a bullshit excuse to say in front of your audience, fans, and gamers. When you hear someone who is editing a certain form of media and someone who is responsible for the editing claim as family-friendly, you know they are bullshitting with you.

At least there are mods available to undo the censorship for individual players. It sucks that such mods are necessary but at least it gives us a measure of control to decide for ourselves what content we choose to be in our games. That said, I hope Capcom and other companies realize sooner than later that any future censorship of their games will only hurt them in the long run.

While the camera angle changes are pretty ridiculous, I find cutting the jiggle physics to be the most laughable. Go pop in a copy of Soul Calibur 2, select Taki and wear her default red outfit. Notice anything particularly unique about her chest? That's right, jiggle physics in a T-rated game from 16 years ago! This in addition to a roster of females dressed skimpy as well. If a mainstream game from 16 years ago retained this material when the game was also approved and released by NINTENDO of all people...what was that about external influences again? lol

At some point I was actually willing to buy the game if it dropped down to like $40, seeing as how it didn't even have a story mode for the longest time, has one of the lowest character counts in recent fighting games, has no arcade mode (I think this is still a thing, but correct me if I'm wrong), has balance issues, had glitches up the ass, and has frequent server issues, but why would I even bother at this point when there's a shit ton of other fighting games to play? Unlike other people, I was never really invested in Street Fighter, and so I wanted to use this as a sort of springboard into the franchise, but when they are wasting their time with such petty shit like removing a character's nipples, then I really don't feel like supporting the developers.

DarkVenom I might pick up that game, but I don't see why I would when it's somewhat outdated now, and I am currently still invested in SSB4, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, and Nitroplus Blasterz, with King of Fighters XIV coming out soon and Tekken 7 coming out a bit later. I am just really uninterested in playing games that are heavily censored, like SFV and TMS#FE, these days when I have a backlog of like 70 games (not even joking), and there are games within the same genre that are relatively competitive and uncensored that I can play instead.

Street Fighter V Censorship may have more to do with the CERO because in Japan the game is rated B: www.play-asia.com/street-fighter-v-hot-package/13/709di1, but The King of Fighters XIV is rated CERO C:www.play-asia.com/the-king-of-fighters-xiv/13/7097an. But Capom was too cheap on localization and did one for all region parity censorship similar to what Konami Europe did for Contra/Probotector, Sony Europe at one time, and even games like Persona 2 Eternal Punishment PSP, and Fate/Extella for PS4/PS Vita!

I think you are correct in saying that this is an issue with the CERO ratings board and not the ESRB or PEGI. Capcom just wanted to make the game the same in all regions because it would have been easier. I will say this though, I believe you are referring to Persona 2 Innocent Sin PSP as Eternal Punishment PSP was Japan only.

This is something I've been saying forever. With a B rating I guess you can still get away with saucy costumes but I guess it's also how a character presents themselves. Although this may only apply to the alterations to R Mika and Cammy's intro, both seem to show way too much crotch shots up close and that doesn't seem to float well with a B rating. Although maybe they could have still showed the slap without showing her crotch since her ass is still in the ending frames, but I guess the slap is gesture is also too much for a B rating. Also when the change happened, Ono initially said "We didn’t make any change because of external influences. Those changes came up internally". I feel like words Matt Dahlgren said were poor "We are a T rated franchise" probably what the equivalent of s B rating without having to explain it. So they're a B rated franchise I guess since 4 also had a B rating. The only thing I'd say that people should be bothered is Cammy's nips being removed since it was changed after the game's release and not something during the beta. Maybe it has something to do with ESPN since this is still OK for the B rated Soul Calibur II HD port with Taki's nips stand way more out. The censorship surrounding SFV is the dumbest shit I've ever seen to get so worked up over. It's not like the west is getting a butchered version from Nintendo, every region has the same version.

Too bad they do not focus on giving a proper Arcade mode/features/functional online like they should do because it would make more sense then pointless censorship! Take a look at what Xseed did for the non-Japanese version Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, and Atlus/Sega with with the non-Japanese version of The King of Fighters XIV. Both 100% uncut world wide and have proper Arcade mode/features/functional online compared to the broken Street Fighter V!

I didn't get Street Fighter V because of the complaints I heard after launch, so I forgot about it. But damn, now seeing it for the first time I have to admit that the female character models look really... good. The cesorship is a huge shame, however. Game's rated "T" for a reason.

I have all the DLC in Street Fighter V because I got the Ultimate Arcade Edition and bought all the other DLC after I still play the game to this day honestly don’t think it’s that bad (but I think you can already tell)

Time to step up the war on censorship. Just as the first Capcom embargo worked better than they would admit, another one is forming. Stay tuned, keep ears out, and if in effect, it's pretty easy to follow. You just need the self discipline to stop buying. SNK and Marvelous learned as companies they have nothing to gain from pandering to people to change what others like. It's time Capcom learns the same lesson. We vote with our, all the more precious, currency. Buy into companies who blatantly show they cater to their fans, not just those who keep repeating they do until the lesser minded believe it. I regret watching the EVO finals. I didn't want to have anything to do with espn/disney (twitch wasn't working for me not that I want to use them either) but my parents enjoyed it so I sat down and watched it with them. By the time I purchase SFV it will be $10 or less. Censorship, glitch or artistic differences I hate the changes. Compromise could be had (remember USF4's multiple versions of characters from SF4, SSF4 and AE; do that with the outfits, poses, CAs) but unfortunately the hypocritical prudes get priority.

But I don't understand this, were the developers on fire when they make the character models or something? Also I find it stupid CAPCOM USA (as they call themselves) bluntly said 'we'd like to ensure that this franchise stays a family friendly franchise so we're sorry if our content offended anyone so we tried to tone down some of the content' (not exact quote but 1:14). I never felt the SF franchise has been family friendly. I've started play SF 2 since I was in my teens. saying the SF franchise is mean to be "family friendly" is like saying ASSASSIN'S CREED or CALL OF DUTY is intended to be "family friendly". I swear CAPCOM USA can be so ****en stupid. Just admit you wanted your game shown off on TV for promo reasons so you needed players playing as fully clothed characters (4:05)
