I'm sure I spotted a large rate running along the wall when you were eating the 'spring roll'. We can appreciated the fish market - we visited on in Semporna in Borneo and definitely not a tourist destination LOL . I can remember the smell in the heat - really quite an experience LOL. That's spring role same like in Vietnam Thailand and in Lao .. but the speciality is FRIED .. and the ingredient inside might be different a bit .. means different vegetable inside

The side soup you'll find in most noodle shops or restaurants is called "Hinn Gar", which kinda translates to "Plain/Raw Soup" in english. Cuz the ingredients are simple, either its cooked with chicken broth and msg or vegetarian version, topped with pepper, spring onions, sometimes soft fragrant leaves. But there is also a secret ingredient, *which i dont know a name of* that makes the soup have a slight kick of heat without having to add chillis. I dont think it helps digestion, i think it is used as a drink to push your food down in place water. Plus it is steamy hot and has a nice taste, that's why it's widely served
