I just found your channel by accident and subscribed. I love exploring the thousands of excellent locations for real traditional Thai/Lao or Burmese food. Rarely have ever had a bad meal anywhere in Southeast Asia. I have the greatest respect for any foreigner that has made an effort to learn Thai. In my opinion as a host of a channel, they are more reliable and trustworthy with the information they offer.

There is no doubt Joel in my mind. You are one of the kindest, sincere and most considerate person there is to the people you meet on your journeys. Hi Joel! Great video and I love the opening music. The Burmese food looks so delicious. I love to eat foods that are rich in color and that are raw. There are so many places you’ve shown that I want to visit when I come to Thailand. I hope they allow tourist soon, even the non vaccinated. I’d be willing to quarantine for a few days. That throw back with the mustache! Ouuuweee! I’m always amazed at how a mustache makes men look totally different. I love how shy and humble the people were. To see them prepare the food in front of you also gives way to the freshness of the food. Watching this made me really hungry. 😁👍🏽

If we sneak on a plane and steal a scooter we can go to their house without having to quarantine. Then we sneak back out after a. Couple of weeks. Score.

(New Year's Day 2022) Hope you are doing awesome... cheers to Burmese Salads but more importantly, cheers to humble places serving EPIC levels of flavor, working hard even amidst quarantine setbacks time and again this year... whew. Inspiration.

@@JoelsTastyRide today has been great! I’m in Gettysburg, Pa and we went to a historical Underground Railroad house for dinner this evening! It was amazing and we’re going back to see the hidey holes and learn about it either tomorrow or next week! Also, these are hollow grounds from the civil war. What an amazing informative trip!!! Thank you for always asking and for the well wishes! 💕

Many people missing you, I hope I can say hi to you as well :-) cheers, talk to you soon

@@JoelsTastyRide I will make sure to put in some extra effort for this upcoming Sunday! Sorry I missed it again. Been having some sleeping issues… 😒 I’ll get it together. 🤗 I’m missing everyone too. And I would love to say hello! The underground houses are amazing we’re gonna go back and go through the whole thing. I want to emerge myself into it even though I know it will be extremely emotional and painful. I think it’s only fair to put yourself in their position and see it from their perspective and view. You’d be amazed at some of these hidey holes and spots they had!

I had the fermented Tea leaf salad in Siem Reap in 2010 and was sooo in love ... on every twice yearly trip to SE Asia (never went to Burma) trying to find this dish again! I had it once in Rawai in Phuket... i totally agree! It’s amazing!!!!!

Narelle!!! Very cool to see your name again, that’s a really cool memory from Cambodia having the fermented tea leaf salad, I would not have expected that :-) and again good find in Phuket, I guess that is closer to Myanmar than Cambodia, both are very cool :-) way to keep your eyes open!!!

Hi joel, I have been to Myanmar twice and you covered more than double the tasty dishes i ever did, that food looked amazing,, so many questions i have,,i wont ask all of them now,, maybe in your next live stream. So did the cooks come from Myanmar? and interested to know about the dahl influence, i guess from india? i love the fact that you dont need any meat because the vegetables and spices make it all so healthy and worthwhile.

Love Thai Yai food! Esp. the pickled tea salad! It's "Yam Miang" from the Thai Yai place that we lived just two doors down from. I'd eat it at least a few times a week. You can get the tea leaf salad mix at Thai Yai stores, or at the Friday Thai Yai market at the end of the Night Bazaar st. , near the Mosque. (+ tons of other things you won't see at regular Thai markets.) I've never eaten here! Thanks, we'll check it out!
@JoelsTastyRide3 жыл бұрын
Oh Man!! Don, no way, I might have some learning to do because I thought it was actually Tea, traditionally this uses Miang???? Oh man loving the history, thank you for this :-) I’ve had it at many restaurants around here but no place for me in Thailand has yet to win in terms of flavor, I also love the atmosphere here but… Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely go and dry.

Oh OK I do know of this one, yes there is street on the East side of town called “Halal Town” right?
@dondobbs9302 Жыл бұрын
@@JoelsTastyRideYeah, It IS tea, "Miang" is the Thai name for fermented "chewing" tea AND wild tea, like the leaves used to make Miang Kam, so sorry for the confusion.
@dondobbs9302 Жыл бұрын
@@JoelsTastyRide Yeah, it's weird: as you show in this video, most places make the Laphat Toke (Yam Miang) with pre packaged ingredients. Strange because, real "pickled" fermented tea is available here in the markets. A lot of people use it as a "Chaw" like chewing tobacco or Coca leaves. You can see it grown/ produced up in Mea Konpong

@@JoelsTastyRide I'm re-visiting this video after 2 years and I STILL haven't gone to Auntie Bee's (!?!) I know tons of other Burmese places in Chiang Mai; Payod, (that you did a video on, excellent!), just north of that, in a maze of sois, Kon Kum Shan (great little hole-in-the-wall!) Cherry, on Ragang rd., Suang Kitchen, (off the flower park road, between the canal rd and Hang Dong rd.) My favorite (so far!) The Swan, right on the outer, east road of the moat, just a few doors down from Chang Moi intersection.
