Ugh. I got tricked into a “street” interview one time while heading to work in DC. Coming out of the metro at Union Station, a young woman who looked lost approached me and said, “excuse me, can I ask you something?” Sure. She then pulls a small microphone out of her pocket and asks me what I think should be done with some building. I told her I don’t know the building. “What has it been used for? Is it interesting architecturally?” “It’s an old building that’s been vacant for years.” I said, “I don’t know, if it’s interesting architecturally, I’ve seen some really cool high lofts made out of old buildings.” About that time, a guy steps out from behind me with a camera and the woman asks if he can take my picture? Click “thanks, have a nice day.” They never said who they were with. A few days later, I see my face in the Washington Post Express (a free newspaper handed out on the metro/subway), next to a quote that I’d like to see the old insane asylum turned into high end lofts.

My brother once got interviewed with some friends by a local paper when he was a kid about what they should build on a big empty piece of land in our town. He said cinema, his friends said cinema, in fact pretty much everyone said cinema as our town didn't have a cinema. . . It turns out that too many people said cinema, so the newspaper just decided to change some answers. When the article came out, there's a picture of my brother (who has never touched a skateboard in his life) saying that "We really need a skatepark, so me and my friends have somewhere to hang".

This particular street was my usual route from work and I was there 15 minutes ago. That day wasn't any different from any other, apart from the mangled Chinese embassy, but in the footage the street was completely devoid of parked cars, people, animals, and all reason. @pedrovallefin8406Ай бұрын
That's kinda the whole problem with the very concept of street inteviews. Why do people feel the obligation to answer what a stranger ask them when in the first place they weren't given any choice over their participation in some impromptu quiz show? And why are so many so willing when there's a big chance they will be made fun off over their answers later on? It all seems very nonsensical to me.

I just watched the Wired Tech Support video in which a licensed private investigator answered questions about his area of expertise. He shared that his team used a mock setup of a "journalist" doing this kind of "man on the street" interview to get the people that they were investigating to talk about how long they'd been in a relationship with each other, thus confirming, on camera, that they were having an affair. Ryan is totally right - you do NOT need to answer any questions posed to you in this way! (And please don't have affairs).

10 years ago I was in an accident that herniated 2 discs in my lower back. Since then there isn't a day that goes by that I'm not in some form of pain. I've tried stretches, PT, and other pain management options and nothing has worked for any long period of time. That is until I saw Ryan George asking a stranger about the most viewed episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Women. The importance of that question broke a decades long curse on my back. Now I am running, jumping, hell I can even sneeze without fear now! Thank you Ryan George!!!

Ryan, the more street interviews you watch, the more street interviews Tik Tok will show you. The best street interview I ever saw was an interviewer asking “Have you ever heard anything worthwhile from a street interview?” Everyone said “No.”

Ryan, this is so genuinely impressive. You have a real gift for being able to do clever, truly funny comedy, while also doing spot-on insightful, intelligent social analysis so cleverly weaved in that you can easily imagine someone just laughing all the way through and never really noticing that there are serious points being made. So you can laugh your way through and simply have a fun 15 minutes or so, you can laugh your way through while pondering some Deep Thoughts along the way, or you can laugh your way through and maybe later on make a wiser decision in life because of something you picked up on here. Seriously, bravo.
@horseytownАй бұрын
I’m enjoying these editorial format videos from Ryan George a lot more than I had anticipated. Not everyone who is really good at one thing is good at everything or even most things, so it wouldn’t have been much a surprise to see the funny video guy was meh when it came to direct social commentary (which is still stays funny), so it’s refreshing / encouraging to see. The nimbleness and cleverness displayed in the Pitch Meeting videos could have been locked into that particular format, but it’s not and that’s exciting to see.
@MamanWhiteRoseАй бұрын
Man, I was thinking the exact same thing(so synchronistic). Why is there such a surge of these street interviews? , I don't have tiktok, realized it was a gigantic waste of time right when it started, but even the ones I've seen on KZbin is enough for me to become bored and skeptical as to why there's so many of these.
@vf1923Ай бұрын
Cynically, I would guess reason one is that people are lonely. Even more cynically, maybe a lot of them occur in glamorous walkable locations where lots of interesting, young people are strolling by. This is the kind of environment people want to be in, so it's not only about the interview but also about the experience of living in NYC, or the like.
@BadficwriterАй бұрын
@@vf1923 Sadly, every street interview confirms I would not want to meet or know those people.
