I think virtual reality will just revolutionize the existing robotics we have today. It's easier to maintain than a bipedal machine. Why have a bunch of robot guys walking about your factory floor where the potential for accidents is high, when you can mount apparatus on the floors or ceilings and just have people control it?

A ground assault force centered around supporting mechanized suits requires more classes of supply than one centered around supporting men. Look at this particular suit and picture it in battle. Inaccurate, clumsy, and vulnerable. It needs maintenance, power, and lubrication. If a component fails, the whole system will likely fail. Then, the operator can either die in the suit, fight on dismounted, or run away. If you have ever seen the average pilot or vehicle driver attempt to do a battle drill, it's laughable. So now they have left a piece of expensive weaponry in enemy hands where it can be examined for weaknesses. How long before that military goes back to regular foot soldiers and loses the war? I guess you didn't think it through.

There's these inflatable costumes where it basically looks like a monster or ghost has captured a person and uses small fake legs at the front to simulate a person's legs. Why would someone in a wheelchair need mechanical arms? I think you're thinking of the wrong paraplegic lol In any case, thankfully, it looks like Disney employees are working diligently to keep the spectators at a distance in case this piece of theatrical animatronics tips over. However, the thing that bothers me the most about these things in both stores and the work place is the obvious fall risk they present. I have yet to see one sign telling children not to climb or sit on them, or employees and the elderly and disabled not to lean on them. Competent mechanical engineers actually understand the hazards present in spontaneous or unexpected enervation of moving parts. Most of the robots I've seen with navigation or path finding programs are not labeled as being a possible fall risk as described above. More importantly, in the event that these mobile robots are forced to navigate tight spaces or wind up at the top of an incline, they present an obvious crush risk to pedestrian traffic simply due to potential gravitational energy. The lack of safety precautions and obvious disregard for uninvolved bystanders is why I consider most modern robots to be poorly designed, at best.
