Even thank you for this video. Haven’t gone on the street at night. Yet. I will be retiring in a month or so. I work nights so I sleep prior to going to work. On my one night off I enjoy sleeping in the dark. All this is soon to change. I live in a near ghost town. Seattle is scary at night. Very few people, as in approaching zero, on the street after sunset. I suppose I will have to locate venues like night clubs. Outside of buses, there are virtually no cars on the street. Seattle is no London or New York. Thank you for the underexpose tip. That would have taken me a long time, if ever to figure out on my own. You showed this in the vid but never talked about it. Taking short video clips works very well at night. Having IBIS on a body like the XT4 could be very helpful at night. The one thing Seattle has in abundance is rain. We sometimes have atmospheric rivers. Dangerous but interesting is photography while driving. I turn off the windshield wiper and accumulate droplets on the windshield. I get some pretty images. I do this at traffic light stops or on the highway when there is a significant distance between the driver in front of me and there is a patch of straight road. Maybe having a driver and my sitting in the front seat may be a safer alternative. Protective gear for my camera and feet seem especially important. Bodies like the XP2 aren’t water resistant. That suggests keeping the camera under my jacket or in a large plastic bag. When my feet are cold and wet I am not happy. I can see the importance of having the proper foot gear when walking in the dark. Situational awareness I can see is an important element while being out at night. Being alone is not safe. Maybe finding a street photographer comrade may be a good idea. Thank you for this video. It was full of interesting images and good ideas. Definitely a thumbs up. Mask On Nurse Marty

Hey man. This is just amazing. Glad I stumbled across this channel. Question: Do you use any sort of noise reduction plugins for your videos? Because your low light footage looks very clean. This may sound like a stupid question, but do you ever get into trouble ? Like what if someone doesn't want you to take a picture of them, what happens when you actually get "noticed" ? what if someone asks you to delete your pictures ? i know it's not a very common scenario but have you ever stumbled on someone who was bothered by it all ? In other words what if the "subject" starts to get physical ?
@erenjam Жыл бұрын
Never had an altercation, can't really recall anybody asking to delete, but if they do, I'll just delete the photo.

Man, I don’t know how you get away with iso set to 3200. I went out last night using my XH2 and 35 f/2. Had my iso set to 6400 with a minimum shutter speed of 1/125. Exposure compensation was -1. Even then, I found my camera overriding my minimum shutter speed. I had to raise my iso to to 12800 to get my shutter speed back up and freeze motion. 3200 max sound impossible. Feel like I’d have shutter speeds of 1/8 a second.
@erenjam2 жыл бұрын
Depends a lot on where you are shooting at night, I choose pretty well let spots which allow me to capture at the 3200 range. TBH though, even at 6400 and above the fuji does pretty well
