As to your fence project - I know sometimes here in CT, you can have students from a local technical high school do what work you need done. If you have such a school nearby, it might be worth calling them to see if your projects are something they may want to take on. It's a great opportunity for the kids to learn how to do various tasks, and the jobs are done well because they're under teacher's supervision. It's good for you, because not only are you helping to teach kids, the work is usually done at a substantially reduced rate. I'm sure they could do painting as well. It might be worth your while to make that call.

The Norfolk Southern Local running was moving quickly in the street in Franklin, Ohio to get to the location where it was going to do its work. I cannot remember if it was moving as quickly in previous videos that you made of the Local running in the middle of the street here In Franklin, Ohio. Thank you for showing us the Norfolk Southern Local on the mainline before it made its way into Franklin, Ohio to do its work. That portion of the video with the Local holding on the mainline waiting for the manifest train to go past gives us a better idea of what type of delays the Local encounters as it performs its work. The Norfolk Southern and CSX trains that you caught in Carlisle, Ohio were interesting to watch.

Glad you enjoyed it and that would be really cool to see this street running scene in HO! I was told that the houses right next to the crossing by the railroad bridge are going to be torn down. They are going to build a restaurant there but it won't affect the street running track. The good news is that the customer who uses the street running track is very busy. Trains go through there at least several times a week.

Street running is rare here in the UK, except on private dockside and industrial lines. There is however, an interesting short section of public street running on the Welsh Highland Railway. If you search Welsh Highland Railway Britannia Bridge on KZbin, you’ll find several videos of trains on the street in Porthmadog, North Wales. The WHR is a mainly steam operated narrow gauge railway, operated by some interesting articulated locomotive. I hope you enjoy the WHR videos as much as I enjoy yours.

The last public service street running AFAIK was the Weymouth Tramway, which sadly got lifted about a year ago now. Apart from a road/rail vehicle it hadn't see any trains since I believe around the mod 90s. I'd imagine that the track would have been knackered, the sleepers might have been rotten

I live in central Ohio and the other day I seen a coal train come through. However, I couldn’t film any of it. Then today when I was coming home from church, and a train had just come through but when I looked down the track, there was a DPU at the end of the train. Also, my brother has concrete pillar, in his yard and it was part of a railroad that use to run through there years ago. I wish I could send you a picture of it. I’ve learned a lot about trains since I started watching your videos.

Yes it was the same female engineer. The conductor was a different guy. I stayed way back from that crossing when they were reversing so that they wouldn't say something to me like they did twice before. Lol. She doesn't like being filmed so I work around her. The guy who was on the train actually waved to me when the train was leaving Carlisle and that will be in another video. I got a bunch of more trains at that crossing so there will be a Part 2. Btw, I took down the video where the guy came up to me and then called the cops on me, even though I was way off railroad property. I never posted the other one where he called me a name. Lol. The guys who work on that local usually wave to railfans. Its all good.

We used to have a street running train in Victoria BC on the west coast of Canada. It ran in what was then a partly industrial section of town. Victoria is on Vancouver Island which is bigger than some of your states. They closed the whole rail system nearly 20 years ago and now the only running trains (steam) are in a forestry museum about an hour and a quarter north of Victoria. We used to ride a Budd car on the railway to visit friends about three hours north (by car). I miss visiting them.
@JawTooth Жыл бұрын
Wow, that is a shame that they closed it down. The street running lines are disappearing one by one
@55VickyV Жыл бұрын
@@JawTooth The rail line ran about half the length of our 460 kilometre long Island. The street running portion was only a few blocks in Victoria. I didn’t like driving on that street as the tracks were difficult to drive on. There was more than one and they didn’t go straight up the street. The rain line also ran west about 50 kilometres towards the Pacific Ocean. Without the railroad, we have a lot more trucks on our highways.
