Your thought process and reasoning, along with the beautiful end result, makes this a must watch for all artists in training. Aren't we all artists in training?

Thanks Dennis! Yes, I don't believe anyone is ever a "master". That's just marketing. There's always more to learn!

Great painting. You took a bland, suburban scene and transformed the East Bay suburbs into a Tuscan village! :) Terrific re-visualization.

Also, what I noticed was the three-dimensional curve in the road right in the middle of the shot - you can see the two white sidewalk lines kind of curve away. I have a dream of doing this painting or one of your scenes - because you inspire me, - and try to do exactly what you did in my own style, of course but try to capture that three dimensionality of the crosswalk lines, pretty cool. thanks

3:53 - mixing sky color(s) on palette progresses to initial layers of an impressive affect. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and videos. As a new painter, I feel I learn something with everyone. As far as the liquin, when and why do you use it?
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
I use the Liquin to thin the paint. It allows me to apply thin, but strong layers of paint quickly when starting the painting. I use less as the painting progresses because I want the paint to be thicker. Hope that helps!

Hello Mr Chamberlain! Awesome work! May I ask a question, do you divide the information into important and unimportant when painting? Is it your key strategy? Because I hear you say "there's a lot of information"
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I try to determine what is most important to me about the scene and then develop the elements that support my idea. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for the video. It would be wonderful if you would cut in that beginning shot every once in a while - the scene you’re painting. But it would be great if you would just reference that scene once in a while so we don’t have to keep rewinding and fast forwarding - it’s all about me you know. ❤😂🎉

Too many shots of the brush mixing colour perhaps. Quantum leap from the plein air outcome to the studio outcome. Would be good to see that journey also Michael. The 'magic' bit. 🙂

How do you mix paint with your brush? When I try that it just pushes the paint up the brush and I can never get it out again :/

Do you have a brush washer? Just squeeze out the excess paint with a paper towel or rag and then clean in a brush washer with odorless mineral spirits.
