What a time to be scrapping and recycling! Steel prices are up right now so we wasted no time capitalizing on a heap in the alley! Turned into a bit of a scrap metal adventure for sure, but we came out ahead and made sure to leave it better than we found it!
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3sirg18
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
The grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl
The melting furnace: amzn.to/3EGxT2q
(If you make a purchase on amazon through the links above, a small amount of what amazon makes on the sale is shared with me. It's a great way to help support my channel, at no additional cost to you. Even if you buy something other than my tool recommendations!)
Please like/share this video if you enjoyed it, and subscribe to thubprint!

I’m an alberta master electrician. At 16:40, you smashed a terminal block old electrical parts have things that are band for a reason such as asbestos,PCB’s(polycloronated biphenal’s) they resisted heat like nothing else. Well ventilated with a mask. One more thing holding your breath when you lift or over exert is how you get a hernia, mine hurts every time you do that. This is me leaving it better than I found it.

A couple of old blankets, one under and one over the tub, would contain the shards a lot better. Also slow dropping swings are just as effective as haymakers.

M8 time stamp 18:40 on , you became a real scrapper , using the right scrapping tools . Cheers . A quick note from my own experience . Once upon a time , when I was starting to become a scrapper , I spent countless hours cleaning up pieces of aluminum cast ( hoping to make a killing income ) I arrived at the scrap yard unloaded my precious cargo , after I saw the payment I complained to the buyer , saying I spent several hours processing all that aluminum . He said to me , M8 we don't care how long , it took you to process the material , we pay for the weight you bring in , so I learned to use a speed wrench ( aka sludge hammer , or regular hammer ) instead of all the fancy tools that took too long to make ends meet and making it look pretty. I hope my anecdote will help you in your future endeavours . Keep up the good work. God bless y'all.

Next time try and use a wood splitter maul, it will concentrate the force of the blow to a more centralized area resulting in breakage easier with less swings.

In my area.. getting about 8¢ / pound for steel and 8¢/ pound for cars, as well…. Not great, but when during the pandemic it got down to 3¢/lb for steel and cars and I haven’t seen it above 10¢ since then…. To put it in easier terms - after you take everything necessary off the car - you’re getting about 250-300$ for a normal sized 3,500pound car

Long comment time. I loved the travelogue. Never saw a deicer doing deicing before- that was cool. It was a nice, nostalgic visit to the mosh pit. Been awhile. What about a Thublife second channel? I'm sure the hardcore, rough and tumble scrappers might not go there, but all us fangirls would love it. Just a thought.

I’ve never seen a de-icing in progress either! Naturally I had to add it, it looked so cool in the eerie dark morning 😊 I’ve thought about a second channel for sure, but I think I’d prefer to make this one “thublife” and the second more intentionally designed for commercial success

Hi Thub been watching your channel all day while doing things for about 4-5 Days I've always had a bit of Scrapper/ Junk Man in me last week I decided im going Big or going Broke lol And quit my Job im in Nevada iv gone out scrapping for 1 Day And 3 Nights since quitting. my first night got a Bunch of copper my second night got a bunch of old hot rod parts & Plaques And A Bucket full of antique Glass Insulators about 25 of them My first day I started to put my Business plan in To effect & the first stop i got exactly what I wanted (I'm going to keep this to myself sorry guys) And last night I Had some Copper And 2 Stainless steel Desks And a couple small things that filled my 4 Door sedan and decided to drive by 1 last area just to check that was about 1 mile from my house And I found something I couldn't walk away from so I unloaded everything out of My Car and Loaded this thing in to it Left all my stuff there went home unloaded came Back and got my stuff this thing is an orthodontist Chair And is the single Heaviest item I have ever moved according to 1 website its 400LBS and another says 440LBS I'm surprised it fit in my car its has all the Power tilt raise ect. The whole thing is 1/2" Or Thicker Plate Metal And Is Not Magnetic They are about $2000 New I Have no clue how to sell this thing But I could probably figure it out. What do you think I should do with it? What would you do? Its in Great shape so I dont want to cut in to it till I figure it out if scrap is the same value as sale price I'd rather see it sold as reuse is the most environmentally friendly way to recycle ALSO JUST SO SOMEONE DOESN'T MAKE A MISTAKE AND QUIT THERE JOB I HAVE BEEN SELF EMPLOYED BEFORE I WAS AN ELECTRICIAN FOR 10+ years I Got a regular Job in retail just to take a break this is a calculated move And something that I have experience with. Working for yourself is always more work and More Responsibility. On the other hand if you wait till you are 100% ready you will never do it. if this thing fails for me ill still be An electrician. So Just Have a solid Back up Plan

Congrats on taking the leap! It can be a bit of a grind and sometimes you’re not sure where your next meal is coming from, but it sounds like you’ve got some experience with betting on yourself. I think making it proper income means selling all the high value stuff, just like that chair. If it were me I’d probably list the chair on eBay and be prepared to pack it in a crate and have a proper freight company ship it. I’ve never done it yet but people sell big things online all the time. There may be a website dedicated to selling that sort of stuff too, just have to look and see. All the best on your adventures!
