Nah a lot of Audi guys love the B5, hell a lot of the car people love the B5 and it’s potential but as others have said. It’s the reliability issue that keeps people away from them. Harder to find a nice and maintained one these days. I’ve owned two and I miss them but I’m happily content with my URS4 (original S4 with the 2.2 Inline 5 turbo)

From check engine to check engine light, lol. Love every minute of it👍. It's on jack stands as I type. Doing: front control arms, rear bushings and wheel bearings, engine/trans mounts. 197k orginal motor/turbos/trans/clutch. I say this in a very quiet voice not to upset the car.

@@bartoszpiechota6903 nice, good luck. Ever since I heard the B7 RS4 with exhaust I thought of this swap myself. How great would it be to have all that torque in City driving and that wonderful v8 noise. What held me back was the power that's obtainable with the stock motor. 411awhp on 93 from the 1.8 wasn't enough. So the stock 4.2 would not be enough either. To rebuild the 4.2 and boost it would be pretty expensive. Probably more expensive than getting a crate Coyote engine/supercharge it and make it fit in the car, lol. V8 swap B5 are awesome good luck👍

Sometimes you can find them for great deals. I know a few people who have bought them for under 5,000 which is not much more than the B5 A4. Question is who is working on it and can you afford the repair bill or upgrade bill? I have both B5 A4 and B5 S4 work on both myself. A4 makes 411awhp right now. Working on 2.0 stroker, right now. My girl drives the S4 with just tune and CAI, borla exhaust, and coil overs. Still has ko3s. I'm driving the A4 that I beat hard everyday. Reaching for that 500awhp mark on 93.... well as close as I can get, 450 for sure. Part prices are really going up right now

What kind of "modern tech" would you put on a manual trans? Also, alot of that perceived lag is a result of a relatively long 2nd gear. Shifting from 1'st to 2nd puts you below the power band for a sec.

@@DillyGee the 2.7 biturbo engines that the b5 s4's have are known to leak oil from the cam plugs and some other areas, and they are known to have timing belt/chain issues

to the person that said a Tesla would destroy both cars that is not true. I own a Stage 3 b5 and i raced a Tesla S P100d from a 50 roll and destroyed him 5 times consistently. Now from a dead stop the result would be MUCH different. Due to the way Ev's harness the power. They are great from a dead stop but after that they dont have much. I have seen regular Charger R/T beat a Tesla P100d from a rolling speed.

Stage 3 + B5s can embarrass plenty no doubt. They are great highway killers when you get to gt28s or tial 770s. Basic stage 3 builds with ko4s is a great all around sportster. 4 rings to rule them all.

Stock gear box on B5 S4 is good for 800hp at least. 1000plus with upgraded OEM internals. According to Scott at Advanced automation. And If you have a high powered B5 S4 with a 01E trans, you've probably talked to him before 😂. They are pretty robust especially after you get the 1 to 2 collar upgrade.
