Street & Steel Oakland Jeans Review
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...
From the beginning, jeans were pants for the everyman. Street & Steel thinks riding jeans should be for everyone too. Their solution? Maxed-out denim for dollar with the Oakland jeans. They’re Aramid-reinforced and packing CE Level 1 protection. Main construction is 12oz. Denim with good ol’ fashioned loops, pockets, and straight leg cut.

Just bought these from Cycle Gears. These pants are very comfortable. I tried a Reax pair of jeans and they bunch up behind the knee making the Reax very uncomfortable for me. The staff there recommended me these Street & Steel Oakland jeans, because of the elasticity. These pants are comfortable on and off the bike because there is room for the pants to stretch. I ride a 2007 Yamaha FZ1 and these feel amazing. I was skeptical about riding jeans, but after trying these I was sold. As for the armor placement, I really like how they placed the Velcro. It’s a vertical Velcro along the outside of the armor, and inside the pocket where the armor goes, also has the Velcro match running vertical. This is a smart move by Street & Steel because this allowed me to adjust the knee armor according to my body build. I tried the Reax, but those have a three pockets for small, medium and large-this didn’t help it because I was in between sizes. Now, these Street & Steel Oakland jeans did the job right and I’m able to adjust the armor up and down, and they’ll stay out. I recommend these jeans to anyone. They are comfortable on and off the bike, and the armor placement design is perfect. 5/5

2 questions, Can you add hip armor? Can you get level 2 armor for the knees?

Hi! How do these compare protection wise to the Scorpion Covert Pro or also Revit lombard 2 and even RokkerTech Rider Jeans? They all seem to have knee pads, and armor reinforced in the key areas (Oakland is knees, hips, and seat). Say I get in a crash at 70... would it be really beneficial to have spent another $100-$150 extra on those other pairs of jeans? If they key areas are covered with kevlar/aramid other than a CE hip armor that the Oakland lacks are there any differences? And how important is the hip armor? Sorry for so many questions, hard to parse through the protection benefits and if I should splurge. If it's a real chance of saving me better in a crash I suppose I better splurge than deal with a life of nagging pains that were preventable!

Question: Do these things shrink when washed. They don’t put any wash info on the jeans.

It is recommended to hang dry these as tossing them in a machine to dry can cause issues. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. Ride safe, -Pat

I went down with these jeans & the knee pads moved & did not protect my knees. The jeans did not rip, but my knees got scraped up from the jean material. Any recommendations to fix that problem, or any other riding jeans I should look at?

This can happen with most any pair of riding pants or jeans, as it all depends on how you crash. However, you could consider wearing knee protectors that strap to your legs instead of armor that sits in the jeans armor pockets. Alpinestars has an affordable CE-rated option. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/AStars_BionicPlus_Knee

RevZilla RevZilla Thank you, yeah it was a 30mph “ishh” crash. My rear wheel went out from under me & my left leg went down. I have looked at some of the knee guards, or pads out there, along with the one you left a link for, and that’s more than likely going to be my next purchase. Thank you.

How are these in the summer as far as keeping cool? Do they have coolmax?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 6 жыл бұрын
They do not have Coolmax, and they can be a bit warm on a hot summer day. For Coolmax, you'd need to step up to REV'IT! jeans like the Lombard 2 or Philly 2. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-lombard-2-jeans *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-philly-2-jeans

I'm really impressed, these may be the best looking riding jeans on sale today. Is there a version with a higher spec safety rating?

No, these are the only riding jeans from Street & Steel. For the next step up in protection without breaking the bank, you'd want to consider the Scorpion Covert Pro Jeans or above that REV'IT! Jeans. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/street-steel-oakland-jeans *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-covert-pro-jeans *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-lombard-2-jeans *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-philly-2-jeans

Just bought these last week (happened to try them on in a local shop I was grazing in)... THE most comfortable riding jeans I've ever worn, and they definitely have some heft to them. Very comfortable with the mesh over the Aramid on the inside. I'll be ordering another pair directly from Revzilla, shortly.

Bought a pair of these jeans. What are the loops inside the pants for? Does that connect to a jacket? Which brand?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 4 жыл бұрын
There are small loops on each side for hanging them from hangers, but they can be easily cut out if you don't want them there. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at CS@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. Ride safe, -Pat

These are a pretty good value but they dont breathe worth a darn. They are now my winter pant but in my area they are dangerously uncomfy.
