What track was that at the very end? I'm not sure there are very many areas in Maryland for drifting and I was wondering if my old buddy Prakash knew where the spots were at (we went to Sligo together)
@Saikou-Style9 жыл бұрын
WOW sligo middle school haha. Not sure what track that was, I'll ask juan!

I just s13 coupe it has welded diff and it has emissions delete it fired on 2 cylinders and couldn’t idle and now I have it idling and running good but it just wants to cut out when it hits higher rpm so I’m going to replace maf sensor!
@crambo73209 жыл бұрын
What about a radiator u need to cool down that engine more since ur pushing so often
@Saikou-Style8 жыл бұрын
+cmian rambo Always a good idea, but really only necessary when you start hitting events on a regular basis. The temp gauge is key. After you realize your pushing your car hard enough to get the temps higher than normal, upgrade your cooling.

I just bought my first 240 for $1500. It was dualcam ka swapped and the guy gave me a fiberglass bumper (needs some repair) and the guy gave me an extra dual cam ka. Was it a good buy?

if it runs and has no rust then yea dude!

Damn I though you were going to build a simple s13, I didn't learn anything from this vid but it's nice for someone new.
@juanlo46329 жыл бұрын
sorry to hear that! it is a simple build, just showing you don't need an overbuilt car to have fun
@gtwing86639 жыл бұрын
+Juan C Yes I agree, simple cars are the best too many people think they have to get modded knuckles and bigger engines just to start out, cars like that just mask driver flaws
@Saikou-Style9 жыл бұрын
Yea man it's intended for people that are just getting into the game that get turned off from all these high end "starter builds" they see on forums. thanks for watching though!

+Project Garage yeah for real, like the people that buy a 240 the sr or j swap it and end up selling the whole project for as much as they have in it and don't want to take a loss

Not any running/driving 240's in my area for anything under $3k usually.... I occasionally look as Id like to pick one up to start drifting. In comparison you can pick up a good condition E30 BMW for around $2k-$2500...
@Primer2toneGarage9 жыл бұрын
When y'all deleted the emissions did you delete that rod that runs through the bottom of the intake manifold? I can remember what it's called. It's got little plates that block each intake runner.
@Saikou-Style9 жыл бұрын
YES. the butterfly valve system. remove that garbage. either get an s14 upper manifold, or you can unscrew the little flaps off of the rod. extra cool points for cutting the rod out and welding up the holes.
@juanlo46329 жыл бұрын
if you're referring to the rod that goes into the pcv, yeah we got rid of it. I welded the holes shut where they mounted. if you're talking about the rod inside the runners, we got rid of that too. it's for the butterfly valves
@Primer2toneGarage9 жыл бұрын
+Project Garage Cool, yeah, I deleted them and filled the holes with JB weld. That was before I got my welder. No cool points awarded. 😅😔

Nicely produced video, pretty helpful but I have a drift truck, I wonder how I can apply this video to my truck.
@Saikou-Style8 жыл бұрын
The main stuff is the same, the welded diff is the magic key to entry level drifting. For your truck, you're also going to want to focus on weight reduction and tightening up your suspension. I know some tracks don't like trucks over a certain height racing. So depending on your situation, you may need to lower the truck as well.
@juanlo46328 жыл бұрын
+Project Garage IRS will help in the long run, too! that solid axle won't be doing any favors hahaha

Yea independent rear suspension will definitely be a nice upgrade down the road. I know people use vette subframes or jag subframes to make it happen

@Saikou-Style8 жыл бұрын
what about it?
@danielschreiber10698 жыл бұрын
+Project Garage you were talking about removing Suff. what stuff?
@Saikou-Style8 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Schreiber Basically anything that doesn't have to do with the engine running well. A driftcar needs to be easy to diagnose and easy to work on. So you want to get rid of as much unnecessary stuff as possible. On Juan's car, and mine as well, we've removed all emissions related components, leaving only the IACV on the intake manifold. This brings the number of vacuum lines down by quite a lot. FPR, IACV, Brake booster, and PCV are the only vacuum lines left. Less vacuum lines means less points of failure We both also removed the throttle body heater from our cars since these cars don't see temperatures that require them. Fewer coolant lines mean less points of failure.
@danielschreiber10698 жыл бұрын
+Project Garage thanks guya
@juanlo46328 жыл бұрын
+Daniel Schreiber I removed any and all accessories that I don't use. AC/Heat/emissions/horns/wipers/etc. I just kept what keeps the motor running, should you have an issue, it should be relatively easy to pinpoint what's going on. The majority of shitty idle problems are related to air, by removing all those hoses, and given that you emissions delete was done well, you shouldn't have many brain busting problems. I'm not incredibly mechanically inclined so I wanted to make it as easy on myself as I could
