Personaly I prefer the version from Danny Spanos and Hardline because this sounds more like an unreleased/unfinished demo to me. After some digging I came to the conclusion that Danny Spanos released it first in 1983 but it was written by members of the band Streetheart who for some reason gave the track away (or wrote it for Danny Spanos) and then they released it on their album Buried Treasure in '84
@60BloodyChamp604 жыл бұрын
John Papadakis this is and Spanos is good if you like dance rock or new wave, but Hardline’s version is perfect for 80s radio heavy metal. I can’t believe they didn’t fare a little better.

As a musician who played this song when it first came out, and I believe Spanos version is the original, I'm amazed that it's been covered by so many different bands. I mean really, it's rather an obscure song! Personally I like the Spanos version because it just flows better for me.

Magnus Wettermark ..... That is incorrect. The song was on the "Buried Treasure" album that came out in 1984. Danny released his version in 1983.

secondhandsongs.com/performance/795842/versions 'Hot Cherie' was a song Streetheart wrote and recorded for their s/t 1982 album but was bought by Spanos' label for release as a single before the Streetheart album hit the streets. It was later on their posthumous 'Buried Treasure' album. 'Passion In The Dark' by Danny Spanos was released in 1983 and Streetheart's 'Buried Treasure' was released in 1984, but the song was originally written by Streetheart.

I vote for Danny because we heard it at our house in California city before it was ever released on album. his wife cut hair and cut my stepmoms hair and she told her , her husband was a musician and my stepmother told her that my dad worked on electronics so he came over and had my dad fix Amp for him . then they came over for dinner and he played the demo of hot cherie . he also claimed he was at the meeting when ozzy bit the head off of a dove. we saw him a few more times after that and I moved back to Missouri shortly after. he was going to take my brother and I to meet quiet riot but it never happened. he lived In a trailer out in the desert and my dad partied with him over there. I'm pretty sure Ron wood was there once. I was 18 at the time and my brother 15. I never went over there. I just seen him and his wife and his two kids at our house a couple of times. his wife was beautiful . I think her name was Cheryl or Carol or something like that. I was wondering if the woman in the excuse me video was her but I can't remember exactly what she looked like it's been so many years ago. lately I've listened to passion in the dark and looks like trouble. all these years and hot cherie was the only song I ever heard. they are actually pretty good records and Danny had a great voice. kind of a cross between rod Stewart meets Bryan Adams meets Jon Mellencamp. he had some pretty well know musicians backing him. I don't know exactly what happened whether it was poor promotion and management and probably drugs but after listening to quite a few tracks off both albums he deserved to be bigger than he was .

Can't decide...this or Hardline. Both bring a completely different take on the song. This one has a faster tempo which I do like better and the lightening clap in the chorus is cool.
