I don’t know enough about the Philippines or the country but I do watch a lot of videos here on KZbin about this beautiful country and the people. I tell my wife often that the people and there trials remind me so much of our people and our struggles when I was growing up in America back in the day. Being a brown skinned male and recounting how we had to deal with many obstacles including being lied to by the government. Yet we persevered and overcame a lot. We owe it all to strong family leaders and community leaders as well. To me, I don’t see that from the Philippine people and it’s easy to blame the government for not responding to crisis such as these but the people have to be smarter as well. Everybody have scooters, and cellphones from what you can see but dump trash all over the streets. When crisis like this happens it just make the situation much worse. Now you have filth and probably more disease to pass around to the weaker people than need to be. Believe me, the Philippine people are tough and resilient for sure and I would not like to be in this situation at all but if I was, would like to think before this rain happened and I got that warning to evacuate, I would be out of there. Nothing to save but my family and myself and the dog and cat, well if I was barely feeding my family what did I ever need with pets. God bless this resilient people of Manila.

This is really a Two fold issue...there is the lack of flood prevention but along with that is most of Manila is below sea level and you add drains being clogged from trash than you have this issue. I lived in the Philippines and at the time they had the best education in Asia ..in fact most kids graduate HS at 16 years old because there was no 7&8 grade...but being book smart and having common sense are like Night and day. Some pilipino are conditioned to live a certain way no matter the struggle. They are proud and stubborn people who don't always see what they do is not helpful. Next time you see a video of the Philippines and people carrying Umbrellas in the summer notice how many people have black umbrellas...

HETO ANG SOLUSYON: Philippines will be building the SKY MANILA, they would put Metro Manila's 100 km x 100 km land area up by 50 meters using 500,000 posts. There will be three levels, the ground level is the existing land, all vehicles would use the ground level, hundreds of MRT and LRT would use the second level and therefore reducing massive amount of vehicles using the ground level and less traffic, the third level would be vehicle less area, yes no cars, trucks, jeepneys. SKY MANILA is walking , jogging, biking, scooting area. It will be full of skyscrapers no less than 300 meters tall, condo, hotels and offices. Hundreds of parks, huge malls, millions of restaurants, thousands of hotels, several thousands of factories using all electric. All vehicles will be full electric, non-electric vehicle are not allowed. Many swimming pools, basketball, tennis, football courts, and many sports venues. Hundreds of entertainment arenas. It will have airport for helicopters or any vertical take off planes. This will be finished in 2035. Flood will be the thing in the past.
