Do you have any idea of how this fender was formed? He says that he shrunk the perimeter, and stretched the center. Why do the area around the wheel arch look stretched?..www.pro-touring.com/threads/111638-Auto-Rod-Tech-s-metal-shaping-and-fabrication-thread

HOLY CRAP ! Amazing work , I took a few sheet metal forming classes in College , but all we learned how to do was make a bowl ............ Our teacher didnt really care for the class, so we didnt gain any practical knowledge of how to do this .......... I really wish I had a teacher that was passionate about metal work , so I could have learned how to do this ............ Thank you for showing this , and allowing us to see some of the process involved in building something from scratch .......... Is there another channel that shows more work from these guys ?

That design has a very Italian feel to it, like earley 1960's time frame. Wonderful work, custom coachwork is a lost art.
@jasoncardoza63753 жыл бұрын
Italian? American muscle car yeah, but certainly doesn’t have any resemblance to Osca or iso grifo being different than most Italian cars. Fiats, Ferrari, alphas and Maserati for example ALL spear towards a signature look that’s Italian. This car can easily pass as a GM product in the late 60s or at the very least it looks like a prototype for a gm muscle car.
@dinadaughtry89932 жыл бұрын
Muscle car definitely, that look could have saved AMC if they had an engine that deserved to be in a fine piece of art as that,hell that look would be bad ass no matter what badge you put on it it's very much it's own now awesome

The straight cut metal shear (3 blades) was invented after WW II by Al Swink, a past mayor of Santa Monica, Ca. He also invented the car wash and used government surplus B-17 supercharger motors to dry the cars. Look him up.

I remember back in the early 80's I worked at a iron foundry in Gepps cross South Australia..they had sitting outside the original finishing dies for the drivers side front mudguard for the HR Holden..and part of the pre forming dies for the Torana hatchback rear quarter panels..they were still there when I left in 1987 to start work at Holdens at Elizabeth (I wound up a leading hand in the body shop for nearly 10 yrs.). what ever became of them I'll never know but it was interesting to see them there. the foundry I worked cast a lot of the dies for Holden that were used at the Elizabeth plant press shop.

Absolutely astounding... for someone with very limited ideas skills and training in this field I am just as impressed as a person could be.... I've been a wrench on a professional level for 30 years.. My body work skills consist of changing out OEM panels sourced thru various outlets... To see someone take flat steel, and manufacture into real compound bent fenders and panels, and do it on this level, is a real treat... Great work guys!!!
