The Canadian Federation stopped working the minute Ottawa became obsessed with kowtowing to Quebec in the 1960’s. Quebec sets the ever increasing one-sided terms it demands from Canada with Ottawa constantly acquiescing. While on the other hand, Ottawa imposes an iron fist on the western provinces, crippling their resource development and unfairly robbing western Canadians of revenue that is redistributed to Quebec and other eastern provinces. The time has come for Alberta and Saskatchewan to leave this disfunctional federation and seek statehood with the US. I’m sure the incoming President would be agreeable to such an endeavour.

"Deeply routed in conventional energy industries." ??? Not nearly as 'deeply rooted' as other Canadian Provinces that consume more O&G resources than Albertans many of whom, I must say, also use alternative sources of energy such as: wind and solar (despite its inability for econimic viability), and even wood stoves. Further to this, ALL of Canada benefits from transfer payments to the point that Quebec residents pay less for their natural gas than Albertans. One way or the other, moving into the future, we will all need to diversify energy sources that will still include O&G. We should all thank our lucky stars for our resources of O&G. 🥳 'Somebody' is taking care of us...
