Building your own doesn't only build horse power, it also build character. My brother in law raced up here in Canada, with a small block 400 back in the late 70's, early 80's. I still remember how proud he was of his first 10 second time slip. Now a 10 second car is just basically a daily driver.

Thing i love the most....the fact that its a badass small block!! Everyone nowadays is so quick to jump on the junkyard 5.3 bandwagon, and im over it. Yeah they're great engines. I love all LS's, but i love an old school small block more! Give someone with an LS, coyote(anything modern)all the "tune" they want and STILL beat them with just a carbureted small block. THATS what i love!

It's worth saying that having your Girl right there with you, working on the Truck and showing that kind of support is something else. Very few Women support their Men when it comes to their passion. I turned 51 Today and I still have my First Car. Needless to say "She" has been my longest "Relationship". "We" have been together since I was 19 and limped her home, barely running and in desperate need of some serious TLC. "She" has never left me, "She" has kept me safe when I have been on Fire and Showing Both Sides of Her going down a Sketchy Racing Surface. I am in the process of bringing Her back to Her former Glory and maybe, just maybe I can find someone, like you seem to have found, to help with the long nights of blood, sweat and tears. I've had the major parts on 'the back shelf' for 20 years; been toying with the idea of building one last SBC. I'd planned on putting it in an El Camino restoration, but I don't see that ever getting done, at this point in my life. SO, I've been thinking the six should come out of my $500 '68 C20 'gravel & trash' hauler and put something more fun in it. Watching you guys put together your new motor inspired me. Thanks...
