In my opinion These neighborhoods could potentially be a great Place to live. All these people (grown men) hanging on the corner could step up and potentially get together and do something positive, fix the abandoned houses, pick up the trash 🗑. Let's face it the people who live in the community make it that way. A good interview question ( why are you tearing up your community?) ( what example are you portraying to your children? Or the children around you) Ghettos are created via the community. Augusta is a beautiful place. Remember precious stones are found in dirt I look at these neighborhoods with it can be, what it once was.

I’ve been seeing these videos lately showing some of the more rundown or less affluent areas of Augusta. Been in Augusta my whole life, love there now. As with everywhere there are good parts and bad parts. Richer parts and poorer parts. Show it all instead of making it seem that this is all Augusta is. Areas such as these were areas that my parents used to live back in the day-like the early 50’s. Then West Augusta and south Augusta became the place. Now it’s Columbia county and Evans. The places that become the place to be are where the government officials focus their time and money on and the other place are forgotten. Like someone else said-the medical college did come in and take up a lot of a housing community there for their campus. A few of the hospitals have done this and displaced people. Wish we as a city could work together to make each part of the community as well taken care of as the other-but our local government doesn’t seem to care so things are left to get run down and not cared for. As a side note-in the 3 weeks before Masters the city uses its resources to clean up the roadways and overgrown areas that people coming in will see. After that they don’t clean anything up and let it go. They also kick the homeless out of the motels that they are being allowed to stay at the rest of the year for the one week of masters. It’s pretty shameful. One thing I remember most growing up was going to Richmond Academy and we were all friends-didn’t socio-economic, race, anything. We didn’t care and that’s how it should be.

I was born and raised in Augusta up until I moved in 2007. I remember the Evans area when it was first being built and by the time I left it was really nice over there in that area. It grew fast

Born and raised in Augusta GA! 706! Now I'm living in WA state. I never saw this part of Augusta growing up, I saw rough areas but just passed through them. Some areas before I left were being torn down and new houses were being put up which looked a lot nicer near downtown augusta but that was back in like 2006.

Been in Augusta all my life. Grew up on this side of town. Went to T.W.Josey high-school. The hospital took over this side of town and ate moving people from their homes and making them move to areas they can't afford just so they can add on to the hospital

Thanks for only profiling the poor parts of Augusta. Why didn't you take Washington Rd, parts of Gordon Highway and Dean's Bridge Rd near Fort Gordon and parts of Walton Way where the wealthy live? Lots of nice homes and wealthy people in Augusta. Augusta is one of the leading cities for cyber security in the world, has one the biggest and best medical colleges in the country, home of the Masters Golf tournament, the most prestigious golf tournament in the world. So if you think that's how the entire Augusta looks do your research.

I’m an Uber/Lyft driver in Macon. One night I brought a guy to Augusta & continues driving there for another few hours. Up until then, I was under the impression Macon & Augusta were similar cities. After driving in Augusta for about 3-4 hours, I came away believing Augusta was wayyyyyyyyyy nicer than Macon. Like it wasn’t even close

Most of Augusta is run down though. Gordon. Hwy and Deans Bridge Road are rough looking. The only truly nice looking areas in Richmond County is around Augusta University. I'll admit Augusta isn't for everybody.

What the hell has Tiger Woods gotta do with it. He lands his plane at Augusta Regional Airport and goes to the golf course. He never sees anything else. The Augusta National Golf Association is the one donating millions towards the revitalization project for the downtown areas.
