What a great tribute to jungle Jim probably one of the best races there ever was thank you for doing that buddy keeping the memories alive. I remember reading about him then all of a sudden found out he was coming to New England dragway in New Hampshire. Wow made my day spent the weekend up there man life was good back then.

I went to OCIR to see Jungle Pam in 1971. Jungle Jim is still my favorite FC driver!

At a Funny Car match race at YORK US 30 DRAGWAY around 1970 or '71, my buddies and I (we were 13/14 years old) were in the pits after Jungle Jim was towed back after a run and standing right along side his car as he was swapping out the plugs. As I was the closest of my group to Jim ( less than 6') he tossed me a the spark plug he just removed from the engine, still hot as I had to pass it from one hand to the other. He loved his fans and was always joking around and didn't seem to mind people crowding around his car as long as they didn't impede his tasks. I no longer have that spark plug, sadly. At another time, their was a Funny Car/Top Fuel match race at York (3 FC and 3 TF) If I remember correctly the TF's were Garlits, Shirley Muldowny and Tommy Ivo. Shirley had a spectator help her pack her drag chute and Ivo threw his blower belt on a run but it stayed on the engine. When he was back in the pits, he gave one of our guys the blower belt which we cut into 4 equal pieces in metal shop in school the following Monday. I no longer have that item. Moral of the long story is; Back in those magic days, the cars weren't cordoned off and the pit crews were small, if they existed at all, the engines weren't disassembled after every run unless there was damage and the atmosphere was laid back, fond memories indeed.

Love this stuff. I’ve just bought a Don Cuda Snake Monogram Revell model to build 45 years after I built my first one. Mum chucked it out...I’ll never forgive her😂

Once upon a time at a drag strip in Florida Jungle Jim had a problem with his tow vehicle and there a announcement over the PA that Jim needed someone with a vehicle to tow his funny car up to the starting line. SO, I drove my old ragged 50's Ford half ton pickup with my brother Gary & Dave over to the pit to see if Jim wanted to use my truck, which he did! Gary & Dave stayed in the pit while I rode along with Jim's crew in my pickup! It was a total blast being I had several beers stashed under the trucks seat which I passed out to all the crew along with some joints!!! Drunk & stoned on the starting line of a pro dragster, doesn't get any wilder!!!!!

Jungle Jim was my favorite driver and car he was late for a race @ Atco Raceway he was late because they were just finishing the paint on his new apeman car race track delayed the race for him first run doing a burnout snapped the axle he lined up ran the race doing a wheelie and won and also set a new world record for speed I think it was 232 but I'm not sure of that it was 1971 or 72. Nice job keeping his memory alive.

@@RodgerMyers tree light went off cars took off jungle Jim popped a wheelie came down broke axle floored it rode a wheelie the whole quarter mile won race set new world record I watched it like and the announcer said what happened over loud speakers I watched it happen live just because you can't understand how it happened doesn't bother me one bit plus it was the front axle I never said it was the rear axle

Lol , ok ... You stated that he broke the axle during the burnout ... No problem or beef 👍🏼( you also stated he popped a wheelie , came down and broke the axle ... Did another wheelie the whole 1/4 mile ... Maybe a language translation or math issue 🙂? )
