This is perfect for me ! I purchased ankle weights and was trying to walk with them. Ended up with knee pain . Was about to return them and then found your exercise. Great work out for me and no knee pain. Will do this exercise consistently. Thank you so much Mike - you are helping so many of us get stronger and healthier.

Mike, I really like your Strength Saturday brainstorm! I viewed this video and was glad to see that all the moves were familiar ones--with a challenge. I plan on purchasing ankle weights. Your letter advises we start with lighter ones. I'll have to research the various weight increments available. I know I'll need lighter ones for the wrists and heavier ones for the ankles. I work very hard to keep my legs very strong, especially since my knees haven't been friendly. Thank you for adding touches of interest to familiar routines!...Anastasia

I am 70 and I use ankle weights to strengthen my muscles, ligaments and tendons just walking. They increase oxygen and blood flow to your legs/joints. Strong muscles, ligaments and tendons help support your joints, especially your knees.

These sessions are great! Do you have advice on on heavy the weights should be please?
@MoreLifeHealth3 жыл бұрын
Happy to hear you are liking the sessions, Christine. 🙂 In regards to the weights - it is dependent on capabilities and strength levels. Although the ankle weights I am using in this video are fixed weights, what you can get are some adjustable ankle weights (these can be adjusted usually in 1kg increments). This means you can choose the weight depending on your current strength levels and . also progress as you get stronger. It also means you only need one pair.

Keeping the legs strong is important with OA Kathy! Ankle weights can help keep the muscles around the knees strong. Make sure you're not pushing into any pain with the exercises however.
