Cool video and excellent communication about this topic. A flow state? When I am teaching a topic I have taught before and gained a level of mastery over the communication of the concepts.

One of my flow state moments happened at an exam during my engineering path at University. The professor asked me a demonstration of a theorem, but to be done in a different way compared to the one that was on the book. After few moments of astonishment, I started doing it and all around me was silence (not real silence around... it was probably just inside my brain)... great demonstration and maximum grade at the end... once finished the exam, some students asked me how I found the answer but, honestly, I didn't remember anything

One of my flow experience is when I prepare my worksheets for my class. I can do it non-stop and need reminders from my alarm to take a break and do some walking.

Whenever I teach my class in yoga I get into a zone; I don’t hear anything, I don’t see anything, the only thing that I’m hearing most of the time is my voice, I’m so focus on how I’m delivering my class at that moment. I look forward all the time teaching my yoga classes because that’s usually the only time I don’t get distracted in my daily life. I have full awareness of what I’m saying and what I’m doing. Therefore I believe this is my flow state.

I've experienced flow when I have time to work on a project without distractions. It is a really amazingly productive experience. Being interrupted while in flow is very jarring - like being woken up from a deep sleep. I would like to spend more time in flow.

Thanks for the video, humerous. I express flow when I get involved in a hobby such as doing craft work, but also when I journal or write thoughts down.

I usually get into a flow when I'm at work. My job is a lot of flipping through papers, reorganizing things, picking things up, doing small tasks with them, turning them in to other places, stuff like that. When you know where everything goes and how its supposed to look, you can just start moving and I get a lot of exercise like that. Its pretty fun.

In public speaking, I can prepare for hours and days, but once I am "on", I am "on" and I have to look back to see what happened after a speech! I get into a flow state naturally and all that I have practices solidifies on the spot (sometimes). BTW love the ending. Used to do "I'm not touching you"

Hi! One of my flow experience was when I started to read a technical programming book and I was trying all the commands on my pc. I felt no time passing, just enjoying the moment. Of course there wasn't any distruction during that time I could focus everytime. :)

I think I have experienced flow states when reading books or playing video games. Often a book I found engaging would lead me to being so engrossed, I would forget about the environment and external stimulus around me. There was one road trip I read a book most of the trip non-stop. I had little awareness of time passing and often when i would disengage from a book or a game, many hours would typically have passed.

Video games are specifically designed to get us into flow. With books however, you need to have a really good writer. But it does happen. I love it when it does :)

Just some feedback. I really didnt like this new "argumentative" format. For me it vastly reduced the clarity of the messages, and consumed much more time than necessary. I love your other videos though, and am enrolled in your excellent neuroscience course.

We need to learn to have a good and production good "flow experience"; I learn to do that with exercices of rebirthing. So, no more stress.. You realize when it comes and send it away.

And who are you? A doctor? You didn’t even introduce yourself with any credentials. Stress is a hormone, Cortisol. When you’re stressed you can also release adrenaline which can excite your body similar to fear and thrill junkies who get addicted to taking risky activities that could even be life threatening just to get that adrenaline rush.
