A useful map of how the body (I.e the autonomic nervous system) responds to stress and trauma. Saj Razvi of the Love and Trauma Center walks through various defensive responses and symptoms from mild stress and anxiety to dissociation. Mental health professionals and clients gain a helpful understanding of the role symptoms can play in the resolution process. Please go to www.loveandtrauma.com for more information.

I love that you use the word "adaptive" (survival responses to threats), because the word maladaptive is thrown around quite often regarding trauma survivors, as if there's something wrong with the person for having developed those adaptations.

> 23 minutes is the answer to every single person who says: "why didn't she fight back". How is this not common knowledge!!! I think because a very small group of people grossly benefit from the majority not knowing these things. As 2020, 2021, etc., clearly demonstrated.

This presentation, in my opinion, was very well prepared. I was able to follow how ANS controls thousands of physiological functions causing the emotions and feelings we experience. I also felt the difference of trauma and stress were explained thoroughly and now know they are adoptive survival responses to threats. The examples to explain the different states of trauma and stress were excellent. Thank you for the presentation.

Such an excellent and accessible explanation of trauma and the ANS. I posted it in my Vagus Study Group on Facebook, where we're sharing and discussing resources for understanding the role of the ANS, and specifically the vagus and Porges' Polyvagal Theory, in our health and well-being. Thank you!!!!

I finally found out why when I am ULTRA Distressed I Daydream on animal holes/dens etc. I long to at least cover myself with a pile of leaves or go to the dark garage and lay in the corner. I actually longingly photograph animal dens on my walks. Loved everything I heard! Subscribed

Sounds like an application of parts of general-semantics. The organism-as-a-whole-in-its-environments. Signals travel into the brain via definite paths, and along those paths are altered, etc. Reaching the higher-level brain is not a guarantee under certain circumstances.

@@Robin-bk2lm what's not helpful is your assumptions of what I mean by this. you conjecture that they'd be suffering, but they are nonetheless. Until you see freedom is progress, knowledge of oneself is the key, we'll all suffer under "one size fits all" insanity. Humans are all different, this is why choice and knowing oneself is critical.

i have complex PTSD and linked to that complex OCD. When I get triggered I interrupt the process just as you say on here by performing OCD rituals to bring down the anxiety. Over the years this has only increased the avoidance behaviour, number of triggers etc... So Sad what do you advise? I think i know the answer but hoping you could tell me something that i might not of considered.

I was DP/DRed 6 years ago. It took me 18month to forget it and being living normal again. The first 6 months were full of panic and anxiety. Then anxiety reduced almost to zero, but Dp/Dr simptoms last more. In essence Dp/Dr is so annoying and you hace so extrange existencial thoughts, that it takes time to forget the experience and get use to feeling normal again. To overcome yo just need to reduce obsesive thoughts, and try to understand what made yo to get DP/DR (usually extremely painful experiencess). Now, I am DP/DRed again (traumatic broke up with my girlfriend). First 5 moths were like being in hell. I didn't remember anxiety and DP were so hard and scary. Now anxiety has reduced, and obsesive thoughts are desapearing, so i feel clearly that im overcoming. Try to distract yourself and out your consciousness it the outside world. Don't focus on yourself. That will reduce obsession, and DP/DR will disappear.

@@weareallgodsgetit Here are some of the videos i've watched over and over and over, again and again and again, hope u find em helpful too. Now, i have to say that getting out of that misery we put our selves in is not an easy task, there is no magical words, method, system, technique, practice, to get u out of that comfort zone (depression, anxiety, fear, shame etc...) it really takes pain, it takes some degree of understanding how we got there, understanding about psychology, neurology, relationship between body and mind, and many more things, it takes a lot of reading, listening, learning things that help, unlearning things that didnt help and most importantly finding a way meditation can work for u. Many people use meditation as way of scape from their reality instead of using it for integration. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWrNmZWhpdyNpNk kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC7d3dod9Sbnqc kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYTFaq1qpN6mY80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5_HhIRjbdigepY kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJfMnnSLjbqmjK8
