My father and I met Bernard on the Hampshire Avon in the early 1970's. He took the time to set up my tackle for me, whilst pointing out a good spot to fish. What a gentleman & legend he was!

People several times mention the condition of the Roach. This was quite common in the sixties due to the old waxed/oiled yellow cotton "fin shredders" keep nets. At

This is one of a number of mid-1960's films called "Anglers' Corner" all presented by Bernard Venables. If you check out "Anglers' Corner" on here, there are a few more posted including Salmon, Grayling and Trout. Each one was for a different species.

"Well the hook is quite small...a size 12" Wow! I'd put a square of luncheon meat on that for a barbel!

The new modern heroes of angling on here who think they are better fishing, on commercial fisheries, a blind man man with a stick could catch on them venues

He got his center pin facing wrong way he always changing rod hands if ya right handed the reel faces left
