The combination of Doug Parkinson's fabulous voice and that great Neil Sedaka song - the best.

RIP Doug. Hearing this song brings back so many memories of seeing you and the Southern Star band. IMO the most musically sophisticated Australian band to grace the pubs and clubs of our fair land.

Vale Doug Parkinson- unique soulful “one in a million” talent-humble-never understood how underrated his voice was! Just listened to The Hungry Years and it always makes me stop and listen .R. I.P Doug.🦋

Australia will never hear a better voice from one of it's sons ... very sad.

Just a beautiful version of a wonderful song with very poignant lyrics. So sad to lose Doug / what an entertainer.

This was the best version of this song. What a great voice for it. I saw Doug Parkinson playing Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar in Perth in the late 70's with Trevor White and Marcia Hines. Got to meet them after the show. I can't believe this gem has only had 118 hits! There is no justice in this world!

@@kennydobbins9644 I disagree with you but music is a very subjective medium, so it's OK to disagree. Sedaka wrote a brilliant song. Parkinson really added some soul to it.

Thanks for putting this up. I was born next door to Duncan McGuire who was an extra sibling next door. Duncan was a prodigious talent with his music and won Sound Engineer of the Year too. Was at the last gig he and Doug did just before his death. Doug has one of the very best voices ever. It has always been a delight to hear him sing and know we can claim him as Aussie. Everyone on this album was top drawer, Strechasaurus :-)

I was a regular. Loved that club in it's heyday. Anyone who was anyone played there. I was 18 and in awe of all the talent that gigged there. RIP Doug. A true star and amazing artist. Got to see him sing in probably his last year.
