I spent 4 hours (honestly) in trying to get this cast on to work from every video I could find. YOURS is the easiest and best method because I got it in one try ! The stitches are even distanced and neat. I wish I had found yours first. Thank you !

I’ve looked at a bunch of videos to learn this stretchy cast on, and yours was the only one that made sense to me! Thanks!

This is the best! For me, this was the easiest and neatest way to create a consistent slip knot cast on with no gaps. I tried many different methods. This was very easy to remember and to execute. It resulted in nice, tight stitches. I've been using this for all my top-down sock cuffs lately and they're all beautiful. I knit socks using Magic Loop and one thing I've found is that any slip knot cast-on does not work well on circular needles because when the cast-on stitches move off the needles onto the cable, they close up and the strands between the stitches expand far apart. After quite a bit of experimenting I've found what works great for me is to cast on to a straight needle the same size as my pattern needle then work the first row of ribbing off the straight needle using the circular needle. The cast-on stitches are quite tight, which is a good thing, so it helps to work the stitches right at the tip of the needle. Once all the stitches are worked onto the circular needle, divide them for Magic Loop. On the first round, I thread the tail end from the back needle through the stitch below the first stitch on the right needle, then back through the stitch below the first stitch on the left needle, then knit the first stitch with both the tail and working yarn. Then k2tog this stitch on the next round. This eliminates any jag in the cast-on edge and it comes out seamless. All this is a bit of work, but it results in a gorgeous and super stretchy edge on socks and is well worth it in my opinion. It looks equally beautiful on K1P1, K2P2 and K2P1 ribbing. Thank you, Tillybuddy!

Brilliant! Much faster than the other way I've been doing it. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this with your fellow knitters.

This was so clear and easy to follow. It's actually faster than the long-tail cast-on because you don't have to measure out the tail yarn (and then worry if you measured out enough.) Thanks!!!

I saw your video today 5 April 2020 for the first time. I've been experimenting with "stretchy" cast ons lately so I'll check this method out and your 2 needle version. Thank you for sharing with us!

@Karen02K Yes there are lots of ways to do this but I think this is the easiest and quickest to keep an even stitch size and tension when doing this cast on
