Hi Jack and Fran, at the start of this video both of you were looking at the size of the Croc foot print in the sand. When I toured the Walker river, I went up a creek, about 50 meters wide, I noticed a huge Croc slide going up a muddy bank. The width of the slide was about 150 centre meters or close to 5 feet wide. some massive foot prints that had sunk into the clay about 150 cm's deep on the outside of the slide. The foot print was close to 30 cm long, about 12 inches. My heart started pounding that hard and fast that my blood pressure must have gone up substantially. I kept going up stream to collect my traps that had moved about 50 meters from where I put them in. I could not find the other one. I motored as quietly as I could out of that side creek. in my tinny, got into my bigger boat and left the Walker River, back into Blue Mud Bay which was north of Groote Eylandt, Gulf of Carpentaria. NT. On the way out I noticed a couple of floating Crocs just watching. I sailed back to Alyangula, Groote Eylandt, to the Clinic which I had phoned on my way back about my yellow and grey leg which had two deep puncture marks about 8mm apart and 5mm deep. The Doctor looked at my leg and said Darwin Hospital; filled me full of injections, booked the flight and took me the 17 kilometres to the Airport that afternoon. My boat was still at anchor on my return..

Bit of a cliffhanger that 1. Any update on the boat or the human remains you found? Surely weather you believe the human remains are old Aboriginal remains or not you would have to report the finding to the authorities and coupled with the boat it all looks suspicious. 🤔🤔🤔
@UtahDelaCruz
@UtahDelaCruz 3 ай бұрын
It's doubtful they're connected. The bones on the body were completely clean and bleached, making them several years old at the earliest. But the beef jerky on the boat was barely bad. But it is odd.
@SuperBlaek

The boat is possibly odd. Human remains not really, burials like this area common with the saltwater clans Qld through to PNG and Torres.

I absolutely love this series!! Keeps me sane during the Winter months in the US. This video was just incredible, to see the paintings of old sail boats that visited these islands. Wow! Spectacular! Sadly their lives would change forever. So much history on those islands. Thank you for showing great respect for this culture.

Hey Strick and Fran! Loved this episode and your adventures. As an Aboriginal person I appreciate the presence in your video, I got goosebumps when you found the sacred burial sites and rock art. In case you don't do it already, I would begin to introduce yourself to Country (name and origin), state your intentions and ask for permission before taking anything. Introduction and acknowledgement shows love and respect to the spirits, and keeps you safe from bad spirits. Thanks for reading and keep up the awesome episodes. ❤

I found a carcass of an Irrawaddy Dolphin on Northern Yeppoon Beach back in the early 80's. Unfortunately the trawler guys had netted it, killed it by hanging it by its tail under water and then chopping off its tail fins. I took pics and sent them to the relevant Department back then. Sad to see. It was confirmed as an Irrawaddy.

Strick.....The rainbow serpent, you sure it's not the water leaching through the porous sedimentary rock oxidizing the iron minerals? You see when you have a layer of rock with higher porosity above a lower porous layer the water accumulates (puddles) at the base of the more porous layer subsequently oxidizing the iron minerals.

That Flinders is. group are without doubt the prettiest island group along the east coast.That dory in the Owen channel is full of gar net, a mackerel fisherman won't be far away. Those snub-fin or Irrawaddy dolphin are more common than you think, Cleveland bay ,Halifax bay t'ville and all the way down the western side of the gulf. The biggest disappointment is that every beach bar none is covered in human crap all the way to the tip and around the corner. Margaret Bay is also a very special stopover on your journey north with good anchorage, cheers.
