Seeing Brendan's dances on youtube, I sometimes get the impression that he thinks the rules do not apply to him. There is only one dance where there are no rules and that is the showdance.

however nobody's perfect. Freestyle and showdance are the exact same dance just like dancing a Jazz routine.

I can’t help but think that that 10 from Bruno was an early catalyst for the flagrant disregard for the rules they have in Strictly today.

@mirabellamcgarry82 Claudia presented it takes two from 2004(series 2) until 2010 then Zoe took over. Bruno shouldn't have gave the 10.

The truth is that the first lift was pointless. Without that, it could have been a 40.

He said "The extra lift was for a second," but nevertheless, it was still a lift. Jumps are still allowed, but as long as they are not for too long. Ellie Simmonds was dancing on a table once in one dance, and her partner did what he thought was an assisted jump, but unfortunately he accidentally kept her in the air for too long and it was counted as a lift. It wasn't meant to be a lift, it was supposed to be a jump on to the floor, but they were penalized and he didn't argue.

I agree that Bruno was wrong to give a 10, but at the same time I do not agree with the disqualification idea from Craig because it would have been a let-down not only for Kelly and Brendan for all those viewers who loved the routine bar the illegal lift. Both sides of the argument (full marks and disqualification) just created more drama by favouring one over the other. Imo, the fair solution would be to automatically bar them scoring a 10 if the rules are broken and just continue marking them down by the severity of their rule-breaking and that way no one can get away with it nor can they be robbed of their otherwise scoring because of pros choreography. Shame all this had to happen though, because Kelly's routine was fantastic, it was just one lift too many.
