My niece studied Irish dancing for many years. Today, at 24, she walks with a cane. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, now known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome comes from constant small injuries, the kind of thing common when your feet are constantly striking the ground with great force. I love Irish dancing, but if your child complains of pain, take it seriously.

Yes, Irish dancing is a sight to behold; However, what I have seen in their study of this Irish Dancing, is they are forgetting the 'Ballet' study as use strengthen all of your muscles wrapped around the tendons, feet, ankles and leg bones. Due to my upbringing, my gramps knew native Gail and Dutch and he stated "Your in America, you need to speak English."

Maeverick 2225 It's a dance you have to stay on the balls of your feet for a long duration. So they tend to start you out in ballet, tap and Jazz at a young age, instead of throwing you right into Irish Dancing.

Kimberly Woodyard I started Irish dancing when I was 2 and now I'm in prelim and I had absolutely no experience I was just thrown into it

Actually, novice is NOT the beginner level of Irish dance. Irish dance levels are: Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Novice, Prizewinner (also called Open), Preliminary Champion, and Champion. An Irish dancer who says they're a novice has usually been dancing for a couple of years and is not a beginner.

Ridiculous hair and horrible dresses. Compare that to the beauty and elegance of the dancers in Riverdance.

I love our dresses and it is so much fun and gives us a lot of confidence dancing in these clothes
