I could write a book here, and I might. I've been playing this deck for awhile now and absolutely love it. Would note that your 'nut draw' is: Turn 1: Lightning Axe their idiot, discarding Stitchwing Turn 2: Discard 2 Amalgams to bring back Stitchwing on your opponents 2nd Main phase Turn 3: Swing 9, Pass the turn, Flash Deep fiend off of Stitchwing to tap down their creatures/lands Turn 4: Swing 11, and watch your opponent flip the table because they couldn't do anything. Would recommend playing Invasive Surgery in this sideboard instead of shock, Lost Legacy and Dec in Stone will ALWAYS come in from sideboards. You can get delirium super easily, usually by turn 3 or 4 consistently. It counters their spell, you get to see what is in their hand, you remove all of those problem cards from their deck, and you get all the information from their sideboard plan vs you, so you know what cards you can discard to bring back Stitchwing without fear of getting blown out by an unknown card. All of this for 1 measly mana. It also destroys the mirror match, which due to dev, I imagine ill see more of :( Surgery on Cathartic Reunion is painful, they may discard stitchwing, but only have 1 card left in hand and no way to bring it back, its a huge tempo play, they're left with 1 card while you have 4. G/B is the hardest match up, simply because of Lost legacy targeting K-return. If you can keep k-return safe tho, and cast Deep-fiend with 2 returns in your graveyard and do 10 to the board, there isn't anything left but dust. Kalitas is also a problem (Always save axe in your hand) If you emerge off stitchwing, it gets exiled and they get a zombie, Kalitas has to die immediately. If they turn 2 Balista, you can just hold up 3 mana and respond to Rishkar's ability on the stack to deal 2 to both with just hard casting K-return, you'll take 1 from Balista because its a fair magic card, but that's a blowout play. Responding to Gearhulk's +4/+4 ability with Deep fiend/exile K-return is a blowout as well. This is kind of the reasoning behind Invasive surgery being so important in this matchup, to keep K-return safe, can just drop temper's to bring them in because temper doesn't kill much of their creatures after 3 mana. Mardu, I like taking out the two Fevered Visions in my deck to put in Weaver of Lightning, casting tormenting voice and killing a motorist feels good, and it also turns fiery temper into something that can kill Kiran, and he also just stonewalls Harvester. Ceremonious rejection is good as well with weaver, counter their vehicle and kill their 1 toughness idiot. If they took fatal push out and put in deck in stone, they'll have to use it on weaver or they just lose, which keeps your zombies safe. Some decks board in selfless spirit to fight Kozileks, and Weaver just happens to be a hate card for selfless spirit. Copy cat, you'll win 95% of these games, and the first time you just let them copy 17 million cats for fun, and they go to combat and say swing for 17 million, and you emerge a deep fiend and exile a kozileks return to deal 5 to all of their nonsense and wipe the board, you'll need to bring tissues to wipe their tears. Deck is basically the same as dev's. -2 Advanced stitchwings +2 Visions in the main I originally hated visions, just the thought of giving my opponent an extra card every turn sounded disgusting, but with it on board, you can block with all of your zombies to get something off the board, discard your 2 cards, and bring them all back in the same turn. You don't wanna see visions all day, so 2 copies with reunion and voice, you normally find visions when you've done alot of discarding and your hand is getting low. The 2 damage isn't even something you care about after you play with the card, it just feels like an added bonus. Sideboard: 4 Invasive Surgery 4 Rejections 2 Weaver of Lightning 2 Negate 3 Oath of Jace (For decks running alot of counter magic, hurts alot less having this countered than a reunion)

Also, the optimal play sequence in this deck (which requires you be on the draw) is Turn 1: Lightning Axe, discard stitchwing skaab Turn 2: Any time before your opponent's end step, reanimate the stitchwing skaab, discard Prized Amalgam as part of the activation cost. Both zombies come back to the battlefield Turn 3: Swing for 6 on your turn, emerge an Elder Deep-Fiend out of the stitchwing skaab on your opponent's turn.

Najarala while this is great, and usually you will have this situation in the current aggressive meta, it is still dependent on your opponent giving you a target. at the same time however, that just gives this deck that reactive feeling that makes me love the Izzet dynamic. With the whole flying abominable creations feeling, this is like Izzet delver in standard. I love drawing cards, I love cheesy creature tactics, and flying zombies are just uber cool.

Super underrated deck, many players as well as pros get caught up in new tech they forget about old strategies. In the old meta this was soft to Emrakul, but now the top end power has come down a little it has game against every deck in the format. Great Job Dev keep up the good work!

I built a budget Grixis version of this deck shortly after Kaladesh was released. Main differences are Insolent Neonate, Cryptbreaker, Unlicensed, Scrounger, Wharf Infiltrator, and Eternal Scourge instead of the Deep-Fried, Kozilek's Return, and Fiery Temper (still have 4-of Lightning Axe). Also, that Metroid music at the end was epic.

I've been seeing this deck around a little bit lately, and have been looking into it some. I had a good amount of experience with UW Flash in KLD standard, but all I know about this incarnation is some lists I've seen on StarCity and some discussion on Reddit. Just doing a look-through, it seems like the deck lost a LOT when Copter and Reflector Mage got banned, and although it looks like you could just slot in Heart of Kiran, Gideon appears to be the only reliable way of Crewing it (although a very good way, for sure). Ironically, it looks like Heart of Kiran is also really good AGAINST these decks, setting them back even more, at least in theory. And unless I'm reading things totally wrong, it looks like we scoop to Mardu Vehicles and would have a tough time in grinds vs. GB Counters/Delirium. Spirits does still Have Spell Queller though, and flying creatures in general seem to be good right now. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to go through some concerns I have about it in this particular format. If you've been playing it for a while, your further insight would be much appreciated!

I have a similar list.. had all the grixis land structure for it but it wasn't as consistent when I kept 4 colorless lands in for utility (Fens+Abbys) so I switched to B/R and put in Haunted Dead instead of the stitchwings, and instead of Elder I just slid in some ultra budget Destructive Tamperings haha. Has enough removal and people don't play enough flyers to really make a difference between faltering and tapping.

@darkchiron 7 жыл бұрын
This deck is mainly a response to my LGS being completely overrun by G/B counters, mono-white humans, and other fairly aggressive creature decks (with no flyers to speak of). After sideboarding games seem to be the most reliable to win, and it tries to address a few people running servo decks, Mardu Vehicles, instant speed combat tricks, and the Sphinx of the Final Words are in there because a person or two thinks its really funny to run a deck with like 24 counterspells in it. The deck performs fairly well, went 4-1 (against G/B counters, mono-white humans, and a W/B Aristocratsy type deck namely), and decided to draw in the Top 2 Match with the other player because it was midnight and we wanted to go home. Mainly you use Baral and Jori En for utility and card advantage and use your Stormchaser Mages to attack them every turn. If you try this deck out, DO NOT forget your trigger on Jori En to draw a card after casting your second spell every turn. I really botched that my first time giving the deck a spin. Once you get Docent of Perfection out, they either have a way to kill it or they will probably lose. Know the deck you're facing and try to make a good decision of when its safe to play him. For instance, most G/B counters decks only run Fatal Push for creature removal (at least where I play), so he's almost always safe to throw out as soon as you can against those. Flipping Docent of Perfection is easy as hell, and him giving all Wizards +2/+1 and flying is incredible.

I'm having a little trouble with this deck. I think I may be mulliganing wrong, what do i generally want to keep or look for?
@SBMTG
@SBMTG 7 жыл бұрын
Of course, this is matchup-dependent, but general rules are that you're looking for a Stitchwing and a Deep Feind, and if you don't have an EDF you're looking for a Tormenting Voice/Cathartic Reunion. If you've got a KReturn against Vehicles (or Lightning Axe/Fiery Temper), you'll very likely want to keep that. Two-land hands are fine to keep 80% of the time, and that jumps to100% if you've got a Reunion or a Voice. Generally, keep in mind that most of this deck can be played at instant speed, so it usually pays to just play reactively in the opening turns.

Metaphorically. I say "we have a bunch of Scrapheap Scroungers". While we're not playing any actual Scroungers, my point was that we have 3 creatures that function similar to it vs. control, which Scrounger is famously great against. It's like if you had a bunch of cards like Fiery Impulse and Rift Bolt you might say "we've got a lot of Lightning Bolts" even tho you aren't playing any actual Lightning Bolts.

Also worth noting the stitchwings are great against Thing in the Ice and are ok against Torrential Gearhulk because you are not casting them so torrential can not counter them a lot of the time and they are horrors.

I actually like Descented Mindbender in this over Wretch as it allows you to eat there hand while giving you a formidable 5/5

aegisofhonor easily splashable, however you are right, more concerning is the fact that mindbender is slow has fuck and dowsnt synergise well with what the deck is trying to do.
