As a spectator of IG fallers, I have wondered about the rigging, etc. I am in awe of your presentation here AND how my pea brain was able to follow the logic! Excellent job.

I love your videos. I’m waiting for my climbing rope and other gear to come in so I can start climbing. Your videos are great source material to learn.

Great topic and I love the ways you use visual examples! One thing I might have added is the way the force vector divides the line angle. It's a great concept to know because you will know how to optimize the direction of load for a given branch and would've been very easy to show on your last bamboo stick example. But thanks for making these!

Great topic! An arborist can be a physics major.

Can I get your thoughts on back stays (sailing term) or guy wire type rigging when you have to climb a tree with lean and weak wood and you want to reduce the amount of sway or forward movement of the tree when dropping/ catching the top or just to counter your body weight. Do you ever do this?

Absolutely! I will frequently tie my base anchor off to a different tree for this reason and because it brings the back side of my rope away from the trunk where I’m less likely to cut it.
