Yeah if I was Rox I would be so tired of hearing that too. If you study the roots of bboying and how it was done by the founders, roxrite is pretty much the perfect bboy.

Rox, dude you're a boss. I used to be a hardcore powerhead and i've been working on my footwork, freezes, and transitions nonstop over the last few months and my style is so much cleaner and smoother. even powerheads should know footwork just to understand the origins of bboying. Thanx Roxrite for showing me the light.

Roxrite is not only footwork and freeze. He has mad power. And the fact that he is so well rounded is the reason why he won BC one. He's got mad flavor and he can get technical! Keep educating and rockin' right roxrite!

this guy always inspired me to bboy since day one. and i liked the fact that he didnt like to follow the fad of how most people percieved bboying as a whole. rocking right 24/7 i wish that one day i meet this man in person. much love and respect - Neil Soulstice Philippines

@bboyariel1 Actually, that is how I thought, too, ten years ago first watching him. But like you said, the more we learn about this dance, the more we see how silly we were in thinking that way. Roxrite's dance is more complex than many people think. Thank you for keeping an open mind. -Daniel (strife)

today is a great day because I understood one more thing in breaking: it does mean a lot about the way you come into a freeze, transitions are very important I never considered that for all my 6 years of trainings and battles and realized it just now since 2007

Dope interview! "Where I come from, you had to be original. You had to come up with your own little moves. It doesn't matter if it's a big move. It has to be a dope original concept." Much props and respect to Roxrite. He's always been super-creative with his. -Midus

What some people may not realize is that Roxrite has flares, halos, headpins, 90s, etc. He can do those things, he actively chooses not to, so he can do original stuff that sets him apart. A true master of the dance.

Roxrite waking up the haters! Much respect to you, a true original bboy, that has always stayed true to himself and the dance and not tried to conform to a popular image of what a some people think is an dope bboy with flashy moves. Roxrite style is always smooth and clean but his real skill is in making technical and difficult transitions with freezes look easy.

I'm a powerhead but I love watching Roxrite. Guy is amazingly clean, his name is fucking dope and you know bboying then you also know he fucking deserves that name. I highly doubt many if any non-bboys will even get through this video. Even fewer would even know that Roxrite started out in power and tricks when he entered his first comp and lost. What he does now is what every bboy should do... Learn all that you can do, memorize it all and do it as best as you can. Respect.

Thanks to Strifetv for doing this interview and posting it. I think Strifetv has provided a lot of the most meaningful bboy content on the internet. I really liked Roxrite quoting Ken Swift, I haven't thought of that before, but it is true. Bboy footwork are nearly exclusive to bboying, and therefore should be held in high regard.

this is why we need to know our history. not just the OG's from back in the very beginning, but from the 90's all the way up to now. im still a young kid (only 17, about to be 18 in a few months) but how i was taught, i had to know the history and foundation first. i think its a matter of yourself growing inside the culture. strife.tv and roxrite are protecting this culture. respect to both! There is no bboy at all that is like Roxrite or has Roxrite style. I have mad respect and love for Roxrite. He's 30 and he's not gonna let his age affect what he loves to do. He's not like any other bboy. He doesn't always do footwork and he's not a powerhead. His style is so unique that no other bboy has. He's a true bboy. Being different makes you stand out. Being creative is what everybody in general should do. Think outside the box, break the rules , reach for the sky. Roxrite , mad bboy

With the issue about crashing, I don't think we lose points because sometimes you crash, but you make the sickest recovery and it looks like maybe you meant to do it, so the crash could be seen as a transition in itself. Another case could be doing things that straight up look like crashes to a lot of people like a lot of Ray's stuff from Team Shmetta.

My bad i wasnt done with my class ;) foundation isnt the move it self .. there is basic fundamental moves but the move wouldnt be anytihng thing with out style and understanding of the music. When you combine the concept, style and understanding of the move to the music thats foundation. I my self am not a master but a student of the dance and im still learning every day .

can't master them new-school and power moves if you don't start with the basics. I was also surprised Roxrite beat Lil G, but watching him and Lilou more, I can see the style and power being demonstrated. They are both clean when executing the moves (e.g. footworks and freezes) and so perfection is always shown.

People that rip ROX, and only want to see power simply don't understand this art... and that's not a dis on cats with dope power... most of the BBoys at BCOne level that have power have mad style too... but at the end of the day ROX is RITE ... Footwork, Tops, Funky Freezes, Flow... that's the soul of this dance. Thank God there are enough BBoys and BGirls around the world that get it and preserve it. Peace to the world wide B-People family.

"Foundation" foundation isnt only footwork and moves , its power moves ,freezes , top rock , transitions ,the WAY you move, the way you dress, the way you talk , the history you know ,The MUSIC thats foundation. If you respect bboying dont down play foundation when you dont know the meaning.. thats not respect . Now it is good to be well rounded every one should be . Bboys have blow up moves but most true bboys wunna have a blow up style and if they blow it up with a move that just a bonus .

@SwirvCross Roxrite also pointed out how coming up with original concepts is important. I think copying roxrite's sets would not help me understand the difficulty of what he does when the true difficulty of his movement comes from him having to think/create original concepts.
