I remember the first time I saw this game. It was in the student center at my college. I remember thinking it was a cheap 1943 knockoff at first, and I was insulted because I loved that game as a kid. But then I played a couple of times and finally saw the first boss, and it’s that moment you think you’ve won but a giant robot comes out. Something just clicked and I fell in love with the game! I can’t play it to save my life, but I love looking at it! Later, when I discovered MAME, I remember playing through the games, just feeding in virtual quarters until I won. Fighting a giant enemy crab on the moon was just icing on the crazy cake. And this was way before that infamous flub at the PS3 reveal. These games are nuts, but I’ll probably never be good enough to 1CC them. But that’s ok, because half the fun is the wacky bosses!

This first time I came across the Strikers series was with MAME back in it's early days (early 2000's). Like you, I also thought it was some sleazy rip off of the Capcom 1942 games, trying to capitalize on the name recognition. While I certainly think the last point is actually true, when I actually played through the games (credit feeding) I was blown away by all the crazy bullet patterns and transforming bosses. This was BETTER than the 1942 series by a long shot. Granted these games came like a decade after the early Capcom stuff so it isn't really a fair comparison.

These games are on mobile free-to-play. Just be sure to turn off your browser to avoid ads. The developers Psikyo are expected to make new Striker's which was delayed by the pandemic years called Striker's 2020. No one knows at this point if they will finish development.

I've tried ii and iii and they were pretty decent if you can get used to the controls.

This brings back so many memories! One of my favorite shmups from my childhood. Too bad I never saw a home console port, though

It did have some home console releases but only in Japan. Oddly they did release strikers 1945 ii in the US but just called it strikers 1945. The whole thing is confusing.

Don't give up. Most Psikyo 1-ALL are very achievable if you put in a bit of dedication.

While playing on an emulator I found out 2 things: 1. Some of the stages are randomized for some reason. 2. You can farm powerups by crashing repeatedly.
@Sorrowful008 ай бұрын
The first four stages are in random order and the first two are always in easy mode
